This will be our first Princess cruise and I see in my cruise personaliser that I have the option to pay my final bill in £s and let them do tthe currency exchange.

Does anyone have experience of this and is it a good idea or not?

thanks for any help

Hi have found it better to pay in US currency and let your own bank do the conversion. The rates offered by princess and other lines is usually very poor, compared to bank rates. Hope this helps.

Charge in $ get a cc that has no loading see "money saving expert" for which cards have the low/no fees.

It might be worth pre paying princess use a good rate for UK Bookings.

Check your personalised and the gifts for OBC.

If you are thinking of having a drinks package you can purchase this in advance from your personaliser and also pre pay gratuities. At the moment the UK bookings have these items on great exchange rate. About 1.65 I think when we prepaid for our all inclusive drinks package this week so check it out and see if it's beneficial to you to do this.

Thanks for that.

I had already decided to pay the gratuities in advance because it saves about £16 I am also thinking about buying some OBC as I think it's at the same rate.

what seems strange is that excursions are priced in dollars when you try to prepay but everything else is sterling

phone on the carnival main line(023 8065 5000) and select princess if you don't get the 0843 No. included in your package.

Be interested to find that out too as we've booked one excursion. You can only buy/gift $500 per person so not enough for the drinks package so gonna pay in £ before we sail...Princess advised me the rate is set when you book so won't change between now & sailing.
