Making Memories on the Breeze.....

This was our 2nd time aboard The Breeze. We are a 40's ish couple with our 9 year old son.

Embarkation was simple....15 minutes tops. I am platinum so we were first on ship. On by 11ish. Headed to our cabin, balcony on deck 9 - 9265. We enjoyed this location as it was easy to access Lido. Plenty of storage for 3. King bed was very comfy. My son said the sofa bed was a bit hard. We did feel more movement than usual as we were more forward. It was quite windy a few nights. Nothing too bad.

 

Our cabin steward was excellent!!! Never had to ask for ice, he filled each day. We had the your time dining and ate at different times each night. I know this must have been harder for him, but he always did a great job.

 

We booked all of our tours through Carnival. We were traveling to Grand Turk, La Romana/D.R., Curacao and Aruba.

 

Grand Turk - rented a cabana. 1st time we have ever done this....Loved IT!! My husband is not a sun guy so it was perfect. If you have a baby it would be great.

There is a nice sofa inside with cold AC. Two loungers outside that are shaded. You have a great view of the pool and ship. Easy access to the pool. There is a buzzer in the cabana that you can ring for bar/food service. You Aldo have a key do you can lock up your things if you want to take a beach stroll.

 

La Romana/DR - we did the Cave Tour. Very interesting and my son loved it. Although they do not allow you to take pictures inside the caves. The rest of the island we saw was pretty dirty. Not sure we care to return there. I am sure some of the resorts are lovely.

 

Curacao - This was our favorite port. We did an Island Tour and Beach Break. The island is lovely and so clean. The people were kind and never pushy. Our tour guide was very informative and funny. We definitely want to return there. Stayed there until 10pm so we had dinner at a local restaurant walking distance to the ship.

 

Aruba- we also did an Island tour and beach tour. This was on an open air bus that was fun and colorful. Music playing and maracas shaking... Lots of fun. Island very dessert like and dry but clean and a lot of very nice hotels. Made a few stops then headed to beach. Nice beach chairs included. We opted for an umbrella also that was $25. We rented a couple of mats at $5 each. Spent the afternoon in the water. There were bars and restaurant there.

 

Dining- We ate in the MDR 4 out of the 8 nights. Only had to wait for a table 1 night for about 15minutes. We found the food to be very good. The waiters do seem to be a bit rushed as there are no assistants. They were very good but seemed a bit stressed. Water carafes are on the table. Maybe it was different in the assigned dining times. We always have your time dining and have never experienced this before.

 

Went to Fahrenheit 55, the steakhouse, on the 2nd night. They did offer a bottle of wine the 1st and 2nd nights. Surf and Turf excellent! $35 per person.

 

Went to Cucina Del Capitano, the Italian restaurant, one night and it too was delicious. $15 per person. You can eat there for lunch at no charge... The menu is different.

 

Did Guys Burgers, BlueIguana Cantina for the burritos and the Pizza….. we liked them all. The lines go pretty fast. The barbecue, Fat Jimmy’s C-side bbq was very popular but only open on sea days…. long lines….. we didn’t try it. It looked tasty.

 

Red Frog Pub has inexpensive finger foods that were really good. I think they were like $3. Grouper fingers, bbq sliders, coconut shrimp….we had a lot of that! Red Frog beer is good too.

 

Room service breakfast 6 out of the 8 nights was such a treat .... love coffee on the balcony. The coffee was strong but not a burnt taste like Starbucks. It was good. I am not a Starbucks fan.

 

Our son loved the Camp Ocean. Was there every night and some of the days. He was in the 9-11 year old. Also loved the waterworks and slides. But, the biggest hit with him was the ropes course.

 

We did the Dr. Seuss breakfast on last sea day. We all enjoyed it at $5 per person. Very cute. We did eat the green eggs and ham. Also red pancakes. Characters came around...very cute!

 

Shows –

We are not big show people. We did go to see the magician, Bobby Borgia. He was very good and we enjoyed the show. Very interactive.

 

We did the Thrill Theater…. Lots of fun. Try to get on the 1st row.

 

Casino - we don’t gamble much at all but there was a machine calling my name. I put $10 in the 1st night and came ahead $65 from my $10. Played on that all week and came ahead about $250. This never happens to me. The machine is a 2cent machine has sun faces on it and spins bonus rounds….I hit almost every time. I think there were a few of the machines in the casino. GOOD LUCK!!

Oh, One last interesting tidbit…. Micky Arison was on our cruise. He was very cool and blended in. He was even standing in line in the Lido for an omelette. Former CEO of Carnival Corporation standing in line just like regular guy….. very cool. He was traveling with his wife. One night they were sitting right next to us at the Red Frog bar watching basketball. Some guys went up to him to sign Miami Heat shirts but for the most part people left him alone. I don’t think many people knew who he was. We saw them everywhere. He was even watching the Ms. Breeze contest at the pool. LOL

 

This is longer than I had thought I would write. It was a wonderful cruise and we even booked the Bermuda sailing on The Breeze for next May while onboard

Great summary of the Breeze. We went on it in 2013 and had a great time. Your itinerary was better, but overall it seems the experience was similar. We did attend a few of the shows, and enjoyed them, but they paled in comparison (IMHO) to the shows on the MSC Divina.

You are taken by bus on a 30 minute drive. You walk down into the caves which are 25 meters underground. According to Archeologists the Tainos used the cave for religious and funeral rites. It is called the Cave of Wonders. There are pictographs painted on the walls from thousands of years ago. It is quite large and tall....not claustrophobic at all. Our guide told us that the Boy Scouts found it.
