Customs inspection in Vancouver ?

We are flying to Vancouver thru Chicago and returning from Vancouver thru Chicago, for a cruise, and wondered what the customs procedure was. Do you go thru customs in Chicago when you return or just in Vancouver ?

When you return - you will go through customs at the Vancouver airport and will not need to do anything in Chicago.

 

After you go through customs in Vancouver - it is like you are in the US.

They send you off to a terminal that is for US bound flights and you can't even really get back to the rest of the airport without a hassle, do yourself a favor and get snacks drinks in the main airport as the selection and pricing in that particular terminal are pretty dismal.

I agree with Sphynx - there is only one restaurant that you can often get food from once you are in the US terminal area. Much better restaurants before you go through security.

 

There is also a fast food place close by (US terminal area) but it is on the opposite side of glass doors and if there are incoming flights coming - they lock the glass up and won't let you though.

We took the 2 day Coral cruise from San Francisco to Vancouver last year. When we were going through Customs the guy said are you married? It was unexpected and I said yes and my wife said no. He looked at us funny and then waved us through. We are still married...
