US currency used in Nassau?

This is my 1st time going to Nassau. Can I use US currency there or will I need to exchange for Bahamian currency?

American dollars are accepted and the exchange rate to Bahamian dollars is set at 1:1.

US dollars are accepted anywhere but make sure you spend any Bahamian money you might get before you leave the islands. It cannot be exchanged outside the country.

:) Great information. it's been a while since I visited the Bahamas. One quick question bank issued visa/master cards are they accepted there? Will there be a currency exchange rate if the cards are accepted?

Many places accept credit cards. The Bahamian dollar and the US dollar are the same so there is no exchange rate, but some credit card companies charge a foreign transaction fee. Our bank charges 3% but it depends on the bank. It's best to check with your own bank.

Check you change before you leave the check out register. If they give you Bahama money, you can ask them for US money instead. This way you aren't bringing back money you can't use.
