Rare LewiLewi Posted May 29, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 29, 2015 Someone on our thread complained about problems with the Rotterdam; including excessive engine noise during the night on Deck 1 and Deck 2. Has anyone been on the Rotterdam during the last two years in a cabin on Deck 1 or 2? Have you had the same problem? Thank you.
SilvertoGold Posted May 30, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 30, 2015 (edited) No problems at all, although we were a bit forward of midships on deck 2 and would not expect much in that location. Nice ship! Lots of Nederlanders, lots of cheese! Edited May 30, 2015 by SilvertoGold
Mary Ellen Posted May 30, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 30, 2015 We've had an outside cabin on the lowest passenger deck while on a sister ship to the Rotterdam. We were in the aft portion and would not choose that particular location again. We did hear engine 'hum'. It was noticeable as we walked further aft from the midship elevators. We've also had a cabin, on that same deck, forward of the midship elevators and had no problems. A friend in a Neptune Suite came to our midship cabin and was amazed how quiet it was. take us away Posted May 30, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 30, 2015 Sailed the R'dam in cabin 1927 on the Dolphin deck (1) a few doors aft of the back elevators. No extra noise so definitely not excessive.

hawkeye3d Posted May 30, 2015 #6 Share Posted May 30, 2015 We were on Rotterdam a few weeks ago in 1916 which we found out was directly over the "pump room". There was a little noise everyday but nothing disturbing, until one day when there was a loud hum. We called guest services and they sent someone to check. They offered us ear plugs and we explained why that wasn't a solution. The lady went away promising to look into the matter. About 20 minutes later the hum stopped and we got a phone call explaining what happened along with an apology. The next day we received a card and a small plate of candy. I am going to try and avoid the bottom deck from now on
