My first time cruising, hopefully this answers your questions.

Before I set sail on Enchantment Of The Seas, I had a lot of questions I saw on the board and I didn't find the answers, so I decided to take notes and write my own review.

I purchased the ultimate drink package and while I thought it was worth it, here are a few things you should know.

1. Starbucks is included, they do not a have a full menu, but its more than enough to satisfy your craving.

2. If you think you're going to get hammered with mixed drinks, think again! You're more likely to get a headache from the sugar in the mix drinks than drunk from the alcohol. The bartenders seem to only do 1 ounce pours for every single drink no matter how big or small the glass. Shots are included and so are neat drinks as well as on the rocks, but they will not serve you back to back. You can however jump from bar to bar as that doesn't seem to matter. You can drink all the beers you want and they have a big variety. I couldn't find the fresh squeezed juice for the life of me.

Coco Cay was an amazing place, I recommend the Jet Ski tour as it was a great time. They use Seadoos GTS and we reached speeds on 40 MPH on the water, if you've never been on a Jet Ski before it is pretty friggin fast! The tour was an hour long, you had a guide and a chase with the group in the middle. They did not allow more than 10 skis per tour. The tour consisted of following the guide to some where in the middle of the ocean, talking for a few minutes and then continuing to the next destination. Tricks are not allowed on the tour neither is passing the ski in front of you, they did however move the slower drivers to the back of the pack. You are able to bring your own snorkle and go snorkling, be careful the reefs will cut your feet up! While on Coco Cay, the drinks are included if you purchases a drink package and they will cook a BBQ lunch for you as well.

Nassau is a place I would never want to visit ever in my life again! Once you get off the ship you go through this star market, I can only describe the experience as the following... Throwing a piece of bread(the bread being the passengers) in a crowd of starving pigeons (the pigeons being the people wanting to sell you everything and anything) You'll get offeres of getting your hair braided, drugs, women and even the cab drivers will want to take you where they want to take you. Nassau seemed to be a spot for shoppers who were interested in shopping and for tourist interested in the local history. We found a guy delivering ice "ice ice baby" who recommended we take the number 10 bus and go eat at Freddies Gone Bananas where some guy was eager to take us to the hut behind the restaurant. He claimed Freddie was a tourist trap and expensive, I told him to kick rocks and enjoyed a beautiful lunch at Freddies.

The food at the windjammer was ok, it wasn't horrible and it was not great, it was fast food. Dinner in the dinning room was great, it felt like an upscale experience and we enjoyed it every night. The steak however was bland, not horrible and not great, it was just ehhh

Deck 11 had a party every night, after midnight it seemed like the only place to party and I enjoyed it!

Lets talk about the casino, I played Blackjack, they use the machine that constantly shuffles the cards, so you can forget about the odds being in your favor unless you play single deck Blackjack. Roulette was not any better, I realized the dealer was changing the direction the wheel was spinning every single spin. Why was he doing that I do not know, but it turned me off very quickly.

Unfortunately Some decks smelled like a sewer for whatever reason. A passanger was injured forcing us to travel at a much faster very uncomfortable speed, causing most people to become sick. I just hope he is alright.

I might be forgetting some things, if you have any questions, just ask and I will try to answer them. This was my very first time cruising and I'm not sure if I will ever cruise again. Everyone says you don't feel the ship moving while you're sailing, well that's A GREAT BIG LIE!

It was just an assumption I made, of few of my friends as well as myself started to feel nauseous and it seemed s if many people went into their rooms i have no idea what the sea sick bags look like, so i don't know if they were placed out or not.

Thanks for the tips and welcome to cruising, I hope you are as addicted as many of us are. If you have the opportunity to cruise for 7 days, try the Freedom or Oasis class ships. With a larger ship, you might not feel as much motion. It all depends on what ship you are on. I usually feel the motion on the last day heading back to port, although I did not feel anything on the Allure.

The fresh squeezed oj is only offered in the MDR at breakfast, your waiter will bring it to you. Nassau is not a favorite of mine anymore. I used to love the zoo, but that has gone down hill lately. The forts are pretty good though. If I go back I will probably go to Atlantis for the day.

I hope you'll give the Oasis/Allure a try. My brother who swore he would hate cruising and one reason b/c of the motion and seasickness. He gets sick in a car if he's not driving (long distance) and if he goes to the mountains, forget it (he's sick), so I took him on the Oasis of the Seas and he loved it, so much entertainment, couldn't even feel the ship move, etc.

Thank you for your suggestions and advice, maybe if I cruise again I will try a bigger ship.

Hi what do you mean they won't serve you back 2 back? If I want a shot they won't serve me another one next time?

Thanks

What i noticed was if you have a drink package they will only serve you one drink at a time and try to pace you. if you were paying out of pocket you could walk away from the bar with 10 drinks if you pleased. Sometimes I was allowed to have 2 shots back to back, other times they told me I had to wait 15 minutes, I just went to a different bar and got a drink.

What drinks did Starbucks offer? I didn't even know there was a Starbucks on enchantment.

They do have a Starbucks, its located in the same place as Ben & Jerry's on Deck 6. They had hot and Ice coffee as well as frappes and a few desserts. I wish i would have taken a picture of the menu but i didn't, sorry.

I will check those ships out and see where they sail to, I didn't get sick until the last day, besides that I was ok.

Being on a bigger ship doesn't always mean a smooth cruise. Our cruise on Oasis a few years ago was the roughest cruise we have had so far. The smoothest was on Carnival Triumph going from New York to the Canadian maritimes. The Oasis Is over twice the size of the Triumph.

It's a Cafe Lattitudes, which serves Starbucks branded coffee. It's not an actual Starbucks location. If it was, your drink package would not be accepted there.

Maybe it's just that bartender that wouldn't serve you until 15 minutes after a drink. I went on majesty with the package and was able to get back to back to back drinks with no problem.

We have had drink pkgs. since they've been offered and have never had an issue getting drinks. True they only serve one at a time , however we've never had problem ordering another before the current one was totally finished. In the MDR, we don't even have to ask, the second glass of wine is brought before we finish the first. Guess we must LOOK really thirsty :-)

  • 1 year later...

While they aren't as fancy as some of the staterooms, the rooms midship and closest to the bottom deck will have the least motion. We have learned to always try to get ours in that location. It is simple physics. We took a Norwegian cruise "around the Horn" a few years ago and the seas were really rough but our cabin stayed comfortable.
