Civitavecchia shuttle

Recommended Posts

Can anyone confirm if the port shuttle drops off and picks up at the fort at the port entrance?

or is it still from the temporary drop off (further away) in the car park?

Does anyone know if its possible to walk ( allowed , I have walked in the past)to the ship from the fort, if the stop is at the temporary stop it will be just as quick to walk from the train station to the ship, as it is to the shuttle stop.

last time the wait in line in 35 degree heat was longer than the walk to the ship, as so many people were returning and the bus only went every 30 minutes :-(

Been to Civitavecchia last week on the Allure.

All shuttle busses go to Pizza Tarquinia (known as the "temporary" stop). This stop is not temporary anymore but final!

The construction site at Forte Michelangelo is finished and there is no more shuttle bus stop there. It´s a park like area and the fort is open for visitors know.

It´s a 20 min walk from the new stop to the train station (we´ve done it and had a look on our watch). There´s also a public bus (80 cents) but those busses are only small ones.

As for walking in the port area: If the ship is docked at pier 25 there is no walking allowed (it may be allowed but there are no sidewalks and it´s way too far to walk to the fort anyway - so I definitely won´t recommend it). The Allure was docked at 25.

As all other ships docked at pier 12 were bussed to the new stop too I don´t think you´re allowed to walk. The crazy thing is that the shuttle busses pass by the fort coming from pier 12.

Thanks for the info.

Is there a cost for the shuttle from ship to the temporary/final stop? Presume this is a RCI shuttle?

How about getting to the train station from the temp/final stop to the train station apart from the public bus? Presume there is also a shuttle?

There is no charge for the shuttle from the ship to the temporary stop. The shuttles are run by the port (if they were run by RC there would be a charge )

If you look on Google Maps and search for La Giara, Civitavecchia, the port bus drops you in the car park opposite. You can then map the route to the station along the road marked as SS1. As steamboats said, it takes 20 minutes and is an easy walk along a flat road.

There´s a tourist information at the parking lot which provides a map where the walking route to the train station is marked.

The public bus is 80 cents (as mentioned above). No (free) shuttle from the parking lot to the train station. The shuttle from the pier to the parking lot is free and operated by the port. Either public bus or walking.
