jhannah Posted September 16, 2005 #26 Share Posted September 16, 2005 This is our first trip with HAL so I'm not too familiar with their cabin pricing with all the letters after the V, but from what I researched I think this was a good assignment. Basically it's simply real estate. 'A' is the best location (generally midships,) 'B' next, etc. There is usually $100-200 difference in price between the categories. sail7seas Posted September 17, 2005 #27 Share Posted September 17, 2005 On Maasdam, Statendam, Ryndam and Veendam, the category "A" cabins are all on Navigation Deck. The Category "B" Cabins are on Verandah Deck.

shuttle-c Posted September 17, 2005 Author #29 Share Posted September 17, 2005 I was just wandering if upgrades on guarantees are a freek thing. My kids booked a VF guarantee on Zuiderdam and got upgraded to a VB. We booked a VF because it was the last veranda available on a guarantee also. Of course the cabin they got didn't have a tub, just a shower. Sounds like there is no method to their madness.
sail7seas Posted September 18, 2005 #30 Share Posted September 18, 2005 I wonder if their cabin that had just the shower w/ no tub was a handicap cabin?
shuttle-c Posted September 18, 2005 Author #31 Share Posted September 18, 2005 No, it was one of the few cabins on the end of the ship "Zuiderdam" that was indicated shower only. There room was really good and they were happy to get a four category upgrade on a guarantee.

JimVrhovac Posted September 18, 2005 #33 Share Posted September 18, 2005 Generally speaking the ones with large showers and no tubs are handicapped rooms. Don't know about you but think of all the possibilities with all that room in the shower. No offense ment, just kidding Jim (oink, oink, oink)
