Oosterdam cabin?

We had the VB5049 on the Nordam. We have a VA5034 on the Oostedam coming up. Looks like the balcony is smaller so is the room larger. Also looks like we are not over the life boats...correct? Anything else we should know....

5034 is an inside K, but the side balconies in that vicinity on both ships is the same: 6 feet. The cabins over the lifeboats are in the center section, 5053 to 5127 or so. If you meant 5134 then you are not over a lifeboat, but have a 4.5 ft deep balcony, and the room is not larger. Edited June 18, 2015 by catl331

I did mean 5134.....thanks for the info. Liked the VB cabin and am surprised about the size of the VA balcony. The location seems better though.

Not many newbies realize that the balconies are so small. Until spring of last year (I think it was) all those central deck 5 cabins were VE or VF, and very popular because of the price point despite having the small balcony and the lifeboats below. As VE/VF they were usually overbooked as guarantees, and HAL had to upgrade many people. So when they went through the fleet-wide reclassification they decided to jack up the price. They are okay for two people to sit on, but three's a crowd. The location is good IMO but I would not pay a VA price for one!
