S&S account question

I hope this isn't a dumb question! I have only been on two cruises and it was a while ago, when I used credit cards and now I don't.

 

Anyway, once my cruise is booked, can I begin to add money to my S&S account online before I go on the cruise? I would rather have it all on there ahead of time instead of giving them my debit card.

 

Any help/advice would be appreciated!

The short answer is yes. Be aware that getting a refund can take awhile and it may come in the form of a check.

My understanding is that you can buy Cruise Cash through the online fun shops, up to $500 per stateroom.

 

The money will be automatically loaded onto your S&S card at embarkation. It won't show up on your billing for the cruise, so print out receipts and bring them with you just in case there is an issue.

 

Not sure if they still require a deposit when you check-in at the terminal. :-/

You can buy cruise cash and it will post to your as account. However it is a use it or lose it option. There is a way of cashing it out in the casino. You just have to watch your account

Option 2 you can buy gift cards. You can apply money from your gift card to your ss account. Any unused money will be put on another gift card for future use.

Those are your option as I know them. Other may add more

A downside to gift cards is that you do have to give them cash or a debit/credit card at embarkation.

 

During the cruise, you can apply gift cards to settle the balance, but it will take time (1-7 days after Carnival settles that transaction) for the card holds to be cleared.

 

I have no idea how long it would take to get a cash deposit back, but I've heard refunds are in the form of a check mailed after the cruise.

I used only gift cards for my S&S account in april. I did not have to give any cash, or card info.
