How can you find out how long the casino rate goes to? I thought ours was only good until 12/2015:confused:

 

The Princess rep volunteered the information when I was asking about another fare matter. She told me the Captain's Circle people would have the details.

Who knows? I do know that the rate applied for a cruise I have already booked for 2016.

It's a rate offered to repeat passengers (i.e., platinum and elite) who gamble on their Princess cruises.

Only SOME repeat Platinum and Elite passengers it seems as with about 60 cruises on Princess and using the casino every cruise I have never been offered as casino rate.

We are Elite, have been on almost 100 Princess cruises, spend a lot of time in the casinos and have never received a casino rate. :(

How they do it is a complete mystery to me. It's rather like the Upgrade Fairy in that respect. Since it's the casino management firm who does it (not the cruise line) I wonder if gambling on more than one line affects things. We did a Carnival cruise last year, but we are almost exclusive with Princess. Who knows?

Yep. wonder the same thing...we are exclusive to Princess and are in the casino almost every night. And then we hear of people who only go in once and get a casino rate??? Strange!

Different programs, discounts and promotions are offered to different people... if you don't get this particular one, you'll get another that we wouldn't get... Now, the discount isn't offered on all cruises, and in some cases, are offered only in certain categories.

 

People have been complaining that they didn't receive this particular discount but perhaps have gotten others? I don't see how complaining about it is going to be helpful except for the need to vent.

 

From what I understand there are different types of casino discounts, some better than others, some lasting longer than others...

 

I'm also wondering if this was given to certain people because of attitudes, helpfulness, etc. You just never know... As far as I'm concerned, I'm very happy and grateful for this.

How do they know who is contributing to their profits.

 

If you keep your cruise card in the slot machine the entire time you are there, they know how much you have wagered. Only insert it at the end to get any winnings, they may not know.

 

At the tables or the cashier, unless you charge chips to your cruise card, how would they know who you are?

They can still track or "rate" your wagering by knowing your name or cabin #. Vegas casinos do this all the time. You can ask the pit boss to be rated before you sit down to play at the tables.

Yes, I've had casino discounts vary from a small % off longer cruises to a free inside cabin on a 3-nighter.

They can still track or "rate" your wagering by knowing your name or cabin #. Vegas casinos do this all the time. You can ask the pit boss to be rated before you sit down to play at the tables.

 

They keep track of what you buy in with, but at the same time, they have electronics on the table that track how long you sit there. Also you will notice the pit bosses always looking at a tablet, they are tracking you then, and making adjustments.
