Royal nights - dress code

Can anyone tell me what the dress code is like on a Royal night...?

 

It's unclear but it seems like the royal night is basically a formal under a different name....?

The exact wording in the compass is to dress your best however one of our table mates was refused entry to the Grande as he didn't have a jacket. They did offer to get him one though.

The Grande is formal attire every night.
