Eager2Travel Posted June 29, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 29, 2015 (edited) Our ship will be in Haifa for 3 days. We would like to arrange a transfer to Jerusalem so that we can stay at a hotel on our own and return to Haifa in the late afternoon of the next day. Does anyone know of such a service? We do not need a guide. The ship has a trip like this but it is quite costly and returns right after breakfast on the second day. We understand that the trip takes 2 hours. epixx Posted June 30, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 30, 2015 It sounds like you want a taxi, which will cost you approximately $200 each way, assuming you're traveling on a weekday: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g293982-i4592-k8371342-Haifa_to_Jerusalem-Haifa_Haifa_District.html Also, the trip will take you more like 2.5 hours. TaliaBT Posted June 30, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 30, 2015 If coming on a week day (Sun-Third) the cheapest and easy way will be to take a Metronit bus, from the main st out of the terminal to Merkazit Hamifratz CBS (runs every 5 min) and from there to take a bus to Jerusalem. Eager2Travel Posted July 1, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted July 1, 2015 Thanks for the info. I think I will also check with the hotel to see if they can arrange something.
hoenichj Posted August 2, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 2, 2015 Hi all Any idea how to get from Jerusalem to Ashdod on a Friday night? thanks
TaliaBT Posted August 3, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 3, 2015 Hi allAny idea how to get from Jerusalem to Ashdod on a Friday night? thanks One way only, taxi. Take into consideration that the taxi will take you all the way to the port gate only, as only authorised taxis can enter the port. You won't be able to walk from the gate to the port. Try to close a deal with the driver taking you to Jerusalem to pick you back to Ashdod, unless you are going to use a bus on your way to Jerusalem. Friday is complicated day for independent traveling. Taxi from Ashdod to Jerusalem should cost around 90 Euro, but coming back on Friday evening take into consideration at least 150 Euro! hoenichj Posted August 4, 2015 #7 Share Posted August 4, 2015 Thank you, Talia. We are thinking of taking a taxi Thursday from Ashdod to Jerusalem and staying overnight and going back later in the evening on Friday from Jerusalem to Ashdod. Other plan would be to go to Tel Aviv on Friday afternoon and then taxi to Haifa( where the boat will be on Saturday. Any taxi companies to recommend? Is it less complicated to taxi from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv late in the afternoon on Friday (around 5pm) Shabbat candles are to be lit at 5:44 on Oct 2 (according to Chabad). Rare Bedruthen Posted August 5, 2015 #8 Share Posted August 5, 2015 You can walk from the port to the train station, it's not far and then get a train to Tel Aviv. From there we caught a local mini bus service to Jerusalem. We did it and then stayed overnight in Jerusalem at St Andrews Hotel. I can thoroughly recommend this, it was very easy. hoenichj Posted August 6, 2015 #9 Share Posted August 6, 2015 (edited) Thank you. Did you do any of this on Friday night or Saturday? is the local mini bus a sherut? Thanks, Judy Edited August 6, 2015 by hoenichj
TaliaBT Posted August 16, 2015 #10 Share Posted August 16, 2015 Thank you. Did you do any of this on Friday night or Saturday? is the local mini bus a sherut? Thanks, Judy There is no bus, train or any oublic transportation service between Friday afternoon until Saturday evening! Sherut is working on Sabbath but then it is not that easy... You will have to take a taxi from the port to Hadar where the Sherut to Tel Aviv is leaving. This will bring you to Tel Aviv CBS from there you'll need to take another Sherut to Jerusalem... All together this is a big "time sucking" option as at each place you'll have to wait for the taxi to fill out and that is a matter of pure luck as it can take between few minutes to an hour or more... hoenichj Posted August 17, 2015 #11 Share Posted August 17, 2015 Thanks Talia. If we are staying at a hotel, can I presume that they will be able to arrange a taxi Friday night? Judy
