July 1st, 2015 Day 6

Sea day so I'll post some photos from areas I have not shown yet and our typical meals and visit to Cafe al Bacio

We went to the buffet for breakfast and later on in the morning the Ships Officers put on a Navigation Demonstration in the Lobby

Just thought I would touch on something I havn't yet, that is the entertainment on the ship

First: Cruise Director Rich Clesen and Brandon from Entertainment staff just didn’t impress me. But Chiko a member of the Entertainment staff was awesome, fun, energetic and even did his own show in the lobby singing. He should be leading the entertainment team (just my opinion).

Our views on the Shows and Performers on this Solstice Cruise

June 26th performer comedian Kivi Rogers we really enjoyed the show

June 27th show Ghostlight

Was about music of Broadway, we enjoyed the show (but not the broadway quality we’ve seen on Norwegian’s Newer ships or Royal Caribbean’s Oasis or Quantum class)

Before the show was also a Gala Toast with Captain and Officers

later this same night was an adult show with comedian Kivi Rogers we really enjoyed the show

June 28th show Singer Impressionist Karen Grainger

She mimics mostly female performers (Cher, Tina Turner…) we thought she was very funny and did a good job

Also later this night were a couple of shows in the Sky Lounge

-Newlywed, No-so-Newlywed game show, we always go to these shows and enjoy them most of the time. This time it was not so enjoyable. Horrible venue to host this show you cannot see or hear what’s going on, very few seats have a view

-Live@Sky comes on right after this game show, again not a good venue just because only few seats have a good view but very fun upbeat music from the 40’s (Jive and Swing) with the Solstice singers and dancers performing.

June 29th show Pulse Solstice singers and dancers performing all types of dancing, Irish, Step, Tango, Disco DW went to bed early i Knew DM would enjoy it because of the Irish dancing and she did

June 30th show Motown tribute Singing trio call Horizon seems like most everyone enjoyed them but we didn’t, if they stuck to singing and dancing they would have been excellent but they tried to blend slapstick comedy into their routine and it didn’t work for me (but like I said it seemed like a lot of the audience enjoyed them)

Later in the evening an Interactive Theme Party Groove with the Solstice Singers and Dancers in the lobby, watched from deck 5 it was fun and energetic

July 1st show Solstice the Show Celebrity’s take on a cirque du soleil type show, we thought it was excellent and really enjoyed it

July 2nd performer comedian Joe Yannetty very funny and really enjoyed this show. This show was an afternoon show because of our late arrival into Victoria

Thanks for all the info. Will be on first Celebrity (Solstice) Cruise in Nov. Will a 7.15 dinner reservaion let us get to the 2nd show on time. Thanks :)

It may depend how many will be at your table, I think we would have been able to make the shows fine if we dined at that time...most start at 9PM, some at 10:30PM.

Thank you for the wonderful review and excellent photos. We love the Solstice and will be boarding her 3 weeks today for our first ever visit to Alaska! :) I'm just loving reading and looking at your review and it's really "wetting my appetite" - thank you for posting it.

We had Chiko on our last cruise, he was awesome! I agree, he has the makings of a future cruise director.
