AkSusan Posted July 7, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 7, 2015 Not sure if anyone has posted this yet, this year, but, the webcams at Brooks Falls at Katmai National Park - Alaska are up and running - http://explore.org/live-cams/player/brown-bear-salmon-cam-brooks-falls Currently, no bears, but, if you look real close you can see salmon jumping - Susan in Anchorage :)
RoobyDoo Posted July 7, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 7, 2015 Oh, the bears are definitely there! Just have to be patient while watching the webcam feed. You can also "scroll back" (using the red bar at the bottom) to re-run the feed from earlier.
bwaz Posted July 7, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 7, 2015 Someome somewhere did post this a couple of weeks ago. I love it! Just in the last week I've seen 5 bears at the same time. If you scroll down to the bottom you'll see the friendly bear cam chat community commenting. Sent from my LG-D801 using Forums mobile app
EMED2010 Posted July 8, 2015 #4 Share Posted July 8, 2015 The cams have been up for over a week. Some days you see tons of salmon (like today) and sometimes you don't see any jump. The Bears are incredible to watch. They all have their own methods of fishing. I keep the one cam going on my second computer at work and now I have our whole department watching the bears. Sea saw 56 Posted July 12, 2015 #5 Share Posted July 12, 2015 I am so happy you posted this. I won't be sailing to Alaska until September (last cruise of the season for NCL Jewel). I can't stop watching this website. There are constantly bears on, in, and below the falls. Looked a few minutes ago, there were six! Thank you for sharing. teachatthebeach Posted July 12, 2015 #7 Share Posted July 12, 2015 If you have the time, go to the video section and watch some of the ranger talks. I've learned a lot about the bears, salmon runs, and the park.
RSF Cruiser Posted July 12, 2015 #8 Share Posted July 12, 2015 If any of you have the time to visit Katmai during the salmon run, it's a fascinating experience. We flew from Anchorage. We did it a few years ago, and although it was incredibly expensive, it was worth every penny. We stayed there two nights and had plenty of time to watch the bears, and also took the trip to land of a thousand smokes. Katmai was one of many highlights of that trip. bwaz Posted July 12, 2015 #9 Share Posted July 12, 2015 On one of the live feeds a few weeks ago, I could see fishermen on the gravel bar and a float plane coming to get them. All the while, bears are swimming by! Sent from my LG-D801 using Forums mobile app
