sjn911 Posted July 12, 2015 #51 Share Posted July 12, 2015 (edited) Ok..I know no gambling....but putting in the coins or now your case and pushing the pt bets in slots and believing what they tell me. Usually leaving with my minimal amt lost...and I very very very..like not in 15 years probably.... gamble..and at that only have a few times.. But seriously learned something here...and have a stupid question here probably. Betting as advised here..thanks richfret and AmberTeka on Roulette....can you only loose the money you put down..can you screw it up somehow and owe them more than you put down with this one bet scenario if you loose? Thanks in advance. Edited July 12, 2015 by sjn911

AmberTeka Posted July 12, 2015 Author #55 Share Posted July 12, 2015 (edited) From the posts on this thread, folks are AWARE. And not happy Perhaps, at least in the sailing dates where many cannot sail due to children in school and such...............they will lower it. cruizinisthebest Posted July 12, 2015 #56 Share Posted July 12, 2015 Well this is pretty messed up for me. Just yesterday, my brother's girlfriend coached me step by step on playing roulette on my upcoming cruise. I have never been a gambler and totally clueless, but she said to start with roulette because it's pretty easy and the minimum bets are $5. I guess I'll be walking past the casino another year, because I'm too wet behind the ears and nervous to bet $10 minimums. It took months to convince me to try $5 tables.:(

Consider it an investment. After you play 20 games and probably lose all your money in 17 of the games, you will continue to walk past the Casino. In the end, odds are against you and it is just a matter of time before you lose. The computer games will prove it for you and you will lose nothing except for the cost of the program. Recently found one for B/J on line where you can play for fun and would be surprised if you couldnt find a similar one for roulette. Kind of like to sit down with $25 or so and make it last for at least an hour so I get some entertainment. Too easy to lose it all in 90 seconds with 10 buck minimums:(:(
HawkIVette Posted July 12, 2015 #60 Share Posted July 12, 2015 If at all possible maybe you can get your DH to learn craps. The pass line with odds is a great bet and his bankroll would last quite a while. Better yet, play the "Don't Pass" line on the craps table. It is the best bet in the casino where the house has the minimal odds in their favor. Very easy. $5 table or $10, just place your chips on the Don't Pass line ahead of where you stand. When they take your chips away, you lose. When they give you equal amount of chips, pick them up leaving the original bet down. You are now starting a new bet. Money lasts a long time this way. You may not lose much or win much, but you should have a good time either way. Craps is a social game and a lot of fun to play.
NCTribeFan Posted July 13, 2015 #61 Share Posted July 13, 2015 I have no interest in Craps. Those people are insane. I have no interest in getting involved with those screaming lunatics. :p I seriously don't see what the big deal is whether it's a $5 or $10 minimum. Like I said, I pretty much NEVER saw anyone putting down less than 5 chips per spin anyway! I can lose money at the slot machines faster than at Roulette most of the time. Most nights, I played for 2-3 hours with $100 start and cashed out with a gain. But if people don't want to play because of the minimum, then don't play! There are plenty of other things to do on a cruise ship. I will continue because I enjoy it.
lido deck larry Posted July 13, 2015 #62 Share Posted July 13, 2015 $10? Yeesh! Did they forget the name in big letters on the side of the boat? I'll remind them..... it's C-A-R-N-I-V-A-L. The BUDGET cruise line!!!! Who can afford to keep betting $10 a hand all night without some serious winning going on? tbjl24 Posted July 13, 2015 #63 Share Posted July 13, 2015 (edited) Remember this concept. Lower the price of the cruise, and once on board, increase the price of everything else. It's a balance, and Carnival needs to recoup the revenue lost on low fares. $10? Yeesh! Did they forget the name in big letters on the side of the boat? I'll remind them..... it's C-A-R-N-I-V-A-L. The BUDGET cruise line!!!! Who can afford to keep betting $10 a hand all night without some serious winning going on? Sent from my SM-G386T using Tapatalk Remember all these threads about casino offers for dirt cheap? Welp its simple economics in my mind. Get the players on for cheap....raise the minimums. Casinos rarely lose. Some folks are getting on for $50pp plus $100 obc. For the price of admission, I doubt they even bat an eye at an additional $5 per spin/hand. WyKnott Posted July 13, 2015 #64 Share Posted July 13, 2015 It's not the $10 minimum that bothers me so much, it's the $2 chips. I usually break even or come out ahead with roulette, but I bet the corners, not directly on a number, and can bet up to $10 a turn covering a lot of numbers. But if each chip is now $2, that's $20 a bet. Yeah, not happy about that.
EnTnSA Posted July 13, 2015 #65 Share Posted July 13, 2015 This is great news. Tables will be less crowded. When I walk up to the roulette table to play $50-100 a spin 3-4 times, I will not have to reach around guys sitting there chain smoking for hours playing 5-$1 chips. I wish they would raise blackjack and craps to $15-25. You should be there to make money, not to burn time. You cant make any money 5 bucks at a time. Yes, absolutely. God forbid anyone play to enjoy themselves. It should be a grind to make money! I say raise it to 500 dollar minimums...you cant make any money betting 25 bucks at a time. Step your game up son! Too bad the computer game won't give me a free cabin. I know, I've tried. Oh I know...they aren't free cabins. I've won a total of $2300 and lost a total of $1800 ($1600 on just one cruise--which is still not the full price I would have paid for that cruise). So I know my big losing day can come. But for now, I've paid full price for 2 cruises and maximum $400 in port/upcharge fees for each of the others. Hoyle's Casino Games won't do that for me no matter how much I win or lose. And, no, I'm not especially lucky.

The Breeze was the experimental ship with $2 chips, but still with $5 minimum roulette bets. The dealers said it didn't matter to them but it did. They messed up my payouts alot since I tend to have all the color chips and they have to pay cash chips. I play a stack of 22 singles so the minimum isn't a problem, but it will get very expensive in the times I play single numbers. I don't know what their research shows, but I certainly played way less on the Breeze because of the $2 chips.
fivetwoseven Posted July 13, 2015 #68 Share Posted July 13, 2015 Just off the Dream yesterday. $10.00 minimum with $2.00 dollar chips. Lost $80.00 in under five minutes. Never went back to the roulette table after that.

Never went back to the roulette table after that. That sounds ominous. seems to be going fleet wide. My husband, who usually LIVES in the casino, did not go into the Casino the last three days of the cruise. he went with me to shows. To an epic band playing marathon. I loved it .............And he is going again with me in December. BUT if the Minimums are $10.......he won't go again. Not on Carnival. What are the minimums on NCL? they are bringing the SPIRIT to P.C. before Christmas of this year; Have one In Tampa too, I think. Close. Princess? Anyone know? Costa? CruisingAmazona Posted July 14, 2015 #71 Share Posted July 14, 2015 We will check other lines and switch if they still have the $5 bet. Don't switch to NCL, their tables at $2 chips, 5 chips minimum, so that's $10 bucks a pop. On every single ship on NCL. I, too, hope Carnival hasn't changed it, $5 bucks is easy and fun. Like81 Posted July 14, 2015 #72 Share Posted July 14, 2015 Anyone been on the Sensation to report on this? I really don't care so much about the 10$ minimum but 2$ chips is total bull. Roulette is one of the main things I enjoy about cruising, but giving me 2$ chips might kill that.

the mistral wind Posted July 12, 2017 #75 Share Posted July 12, 2017 I HOPE THE ROULETTE TABLE HAS A FIVE DOLLAR MINIMUM This is my game i love to play. But ten in a single spin is too much. And i will not play. I will be on carnival glory and also on the allure of the seas. Hope they reconsider this 10. minimum . If i am out i am sure many people will be. I love to play.
