Which Carnival Offering do You Feel Are UNDERrated?

Honestly, the cabins.

I really feel like you get a great space for the money you spend. We cruised in a balcony cabin on Princess and although I did like the closet space and how it's more of a walk in closet compared to Carnival's I am not willing to give up a couch for it.

Carnival's basic balcony cabins offer couches coffee tables and plenty of space for 2, even 3 people to store their clothing. When you book a Princess balcony, you get a bed and a desk, a walk in closet and the standard bathroom. The walk in closet was nice, but it took away the space where Carnival would put the couch. I'd much rather have the couch. Plus the closet didn't offer any more storage than Carnival's did. On Princess if you want a couch you have to upgrade to a mini suite.

It really is nice to have such a large balcony room.

We also like the 24 hour pizza. I know some people don't like the pizza, but we really do.

The photographers and especially the Pixels Gallery staff. Now before anyone starts to bite my head off let me finish.. I know that being hounded by photographers can be a pain but most of them are quite entertaining and make it fun to have your picture taken. I do buy a lot of the pictures and have always been treated so nicely by the staff. This will be our 7th Carnival cruise and I can't wait for more pictures! [emoji328] [emoji4]

For me it is the staff. Never have I had a staff member be anything but professional and curteous and almost always they have a smile. They just seem to go above and beyond to make your cruise pleasant. I know there are exceptions to every rule, but with 8 cruises under my belt I think I can say with some degree of certainly that Carnival Staff Rock.!!!

No head biting here. I agree with you. We've gotten some fantastic shots over the years. And I've seen them catch alot of crap behind people who didn't want to be bothered. Going straight to rudeness without even trying a firm and polite no thank you first.

Room Service

Agree

Me three. I totally agree room service is free (well included in the price of the cruise) and oh so good at the wee hours of the morning. Did I mention chicken wrap and chocolate cake after closing down the casino.

Free Room Service (please tip so it will not go to a paid item at too high a cost) 7.95 seems too much on NCL....and not what you want the base price of a cruise to cover.)

Especially Blt's and fruit plates...on Carnival.

Fancy Afternoon Tea

Avbx Free nice Shower and Sauna Areas in most Locker Rooms..separate from specialty Cloud 9 Spas on ships that have them....Not sure if Cloud 9 spa ships have this area separate and free.

The 3 areas massages, like feet, scalp and back etc specials offered by mid week..appx 1 hr and appx $129..good price for a ship spa experience..nicely say not interested in lotions and potions sales and tip for the service an NOT bothering you with that if asked. If you want this kind of pampering an early appt is often avbx at end of week and they will often give same "special"..2 services a week/cruise really helps the winding down.

Daily ice delivery in carry on cooler or bucket if you ask. And a good Cabin Steward and/or wait staff...really find the good ones and be grateful..they make your cruise.

Larger top tables and fixed dinning if traveling solo...they still change a bit over course of a cruise...and you often meet a good core group with your kind of independence and ability to enjoy a nightly connection and fun conversation....by end of cruise you will often go to a show together or do a tour or a cabin crawl...something from this group,,and you do not have to go every night..just call and say..doing Chef's table..or room service and spa tonight...whatever....

Looking forward to newly learned perk..50% off a nicer bottle than the free wines on day one of cruise in the Steakhouse.

Watching a movie on the ship..even Fantasy Class has this usually in the smaller big lounge..big screen..comfy seating..sun break for the super fair...AND you often share a booth, maybe meet new people..get a drink and just enjoy and relax.

I think the whole carnival line is underrated. I was surprised by everything carnival offered on our 1st carnival cruise last summer on the Breeze.

I always thought of carnival as being the "walmart of the seas" as someone once told me. That was totally wrong. It was beyond my expectations for everything. The food, the service, the ships amenities.

Cruising in general may be underrated...but carnival especially.

I can't disagree with anything you said, and I especially agree about cruising in general being underrated. There are so many misconceptions about a cruise vacation. I've heard people say they would NEVER even try a cruise. Their loss, I guess.

I have to agree about Guest Services, and I include the excursion desk in that. Several cruises ago, my wife and I missed an excursion because my watch had stopped and it was later than we thought it was. The excursion desk let me have half my money back, which they certainly didn't have to do, since Carnival was in no way at fault. I can think of other instances where they were very helpful too. They aren't always the most cheerful of staff members, but considering what all they put up with and are subject to daily, they do a remarkable job simply being polite and keeping their cool. They probably have the toughest job on the ship in some ways.

  • 2 weeks later...

Carnival cruises are VERY underrated for those that don't know and don't take the time to research the line and what it offers. The itineraries are great and the newer ships with the 2.0 updates are perfect for families that don't want to break the bank for a nice vacation. I've compared pricing for 3 years in a row to stay for a week at a local beach in a 3-star motel or average rental home to a 6-8 day cruise to the Caribbean on Carnival and it's always cheaper to take the cruise. And that's including travel to/from and expenses because there are no real food costs on a ship unless you want to spend more for drinks and specialty dining.

I honestly feel that Carnival has the best desserts ( referring to the non-paid cakes, cookies, pies, etc).

I cruised on the Liberty of the Seas last Thanksgiving and while it was a lovely ship with delicious looking desserts.... they were not very tasty. In fact, in my opinion, every dessert on that ship tasted the same and barely had any sweetness to them.

My favorite two Carnival desserts are the cheesecake offered in the Lido buffet on embarkation day and the chocolate melting cake in the main dining room.

Just an FYI... when I sailed the Glory in April, there was one night we ate dinner at the Lido buffet. I was really craving a chocolate melting cake though. I went down to the main dining room and very politely asked if it would be possible to order the melting cake " to go." They were lovely and brought me out 2 plates with chocolate melting cake and ice cream with covers and two spoons. I took it up to Lido deck and watched the early movie showing on the big screen :)
