Best beaches and shopping in Malaga?

For shopping the El Corte Ingles department store and all the shops on Marqués de Larios are probably 'best'

While that link does feature some of the city beaches, I would guess the best beach would be over by Torremolinos where you would take the C-2 Renfe Cercanias train it is about 20 minutes by train running every half hour and then about 10 minutes walk down to the beach. The walk up can take a little more time. Alternatively you could take a taxi.

We caught the train towards Torremolinos but got off at Los Alamos and walked a few hundred yards down the road to a really nice sandy beach with good facilities. It's only a few stops on the train.

Did this a year ago and had a wonderful time in Malagueta Beach, right in the middle of Malaga! Yes, if you want to train or bus travel a little, you can go up or down the coast and get quieter beaches but we were able to do the Old Town of Malaga, some shopping AND the beach, perfect!
