Santorini Airport to Oia

Flying into Santorini for a weekend next month and wondering if it would be more cost effective to rent a car AT the airport to get to Oia or take a taxi & perhaps rent a car locally the next day for just one day to sightsee? DH was just told my someone who returned last week from Santorini that a taxi from the airport to Oia would cost about 60 euros. That sounds really high on what I thought was a small island. Exactly how long of a taxi ride is it anyhow?? I must be missing something....:confused:
