Just wondering how good the concierge is for a platinum member not in a suite.

 

Last time we had a suite and he was great, but didn't know if that's purely down to the suite or not?

 

For example getting us on the ship on embarkation in minutes, getting us off the ship in Santorini way before anyone else.

Having concierge access does not mean that you'd be entitled to priority embarkation or disembarkation, that is a suite perk. Only advantage you get regarding those is the separate checkin queue ar embarkation (you still wait to board just like everyone else) and for final disembarkation colored tags that enable you to exit among the first regular passengers but again, you stand in lines like everyone else.

 

Also, when not in a suite, we have never received concierge's contact information directly like it should. So I'd say that they will try their hardest for non-suite Platinum members not having anything to do with the concierge.

Priority tender tickets are a perk for Gold & Platinum members, there also be less of these members on European cruises compared to US based ones too.

 

I wouldn't expect a private escort to the tender though.

 

Tender services are very well run in Santorini, huge boats, don't worry too much.

Even with the priority tickets one has to queue like everyone else, they just do not need to wait for a specific group to be called before getting in line.

 

That is very different from the suite perk of getting escorted to the front of the line via service elevators/corridors like suite passengers usually do.

The concierge perk for Platinum ends up being non-existent.

OP, platinum perks or assistance for non-suite pax are basically very limited, if at all, after boarding your ship - it will be explained in a welcome letter as part of the "Welcome Abroad" package ... don't expect much as explained above already.

 

For the *Away class ships, we're given a phone # (extension) to call - while on the ship - for help with dining and show reservations, and that's about it. You will get priority tender and priority luggage tags for disembarkation, discount for onboard purchases, etc. - forget about any "escort" services.

 

Check with your sailing's roll callls and those prior to yours on the same ship about their current/recent experience, specific to your itinerary. Plantinum members are the lowest tier for getting the attention of the concierge - they have the Haven & suite guests to look after first :D
