Pre-Cruise choices... Viking Danube itinerary

I was looking up pre-cruise options for Viking Danube cruises Passau to Budapest and was surprised that even though the cruise begins in Passau with a flight to Munich, Munich was not offered as a choice for a 2 night pre-stay... they offer Prague... I'm wondering why not Munich, since you land there anyway...

No idea why Munich is not offered. Pre-cruise extension seem terribly overpriced. You could visit Munich on your own. It's very easy to navigate and public transportation is easy to use. Lots of large chain hotels like Marriott that would have a concierage to help you with sightseeing.

There is the issue of getting yourself from Munich to Nuremberg and then to the cruise dock. But look at http://www.bahn.de (switch to English at the top of the page) for train info.

Also find the official tourist site for the city of Nuremberg. There's info there on average taxi fares.

Prague is the "in" city for European travel these days, so most customers were probably asking for it.
