itsjb1 Posted September 21, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 21, 2005 The itinerary for the Star Princess reflects that at the end of the cruise it docks at 5 am. What time does disembarkation begin? Is it possible to make a 10:30 or 11 am flight out of Copenhagen?
sunprincess Posted September 21, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 21, 2005 You will be able to make that flight no problem. They started as early as 4:30 AM with disembarkation on our Baltic cruise. We were overnight there. Have a great cruise :)
CA traveler Posted September 22, 2005 #3 Share Posted September 22, 2005 We were on the Star coming from Oslo. Disembarkation started around 6:15. We had an 11:50 flight. We got off the ship at 6:30 and were at the airport by 7am. It was a rainy Sunday morning and took little time to get to the airport. From other comments on the boards it seems you should check whether there are other ships arriving in port that morning. that may effect the availability of taxis. We when left the ship there were many taxis and an orderly process to claim a cab.
SaylorGirl Posted September 23, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 23, 2005 We just got back at 1:30 this morning. We had a 10:10a.m. flight out of Copenhagen, we had no problems making this flight at all. We got off the ship at 6:30 and we were at the airport before 8:00. We took the Metro to the airport it was easy.
MTemple212 Posted October 27, 2005 #5 Share Posted October 27, 2005 How far was the Metro from where the Ship docks?
SaylorGirl Posted October 27, 2005 #6 Share Posted October 27, 2005 How far was the Metro from where the Ship docks? It was about 3 to 4 blocks, it's a easy walk.
MTemple212 Posted October 27, 2005 #7 Share Posted October 27, 2005 Thanks for your reply. Maybe I can just take a cab to the metro and then go to the airport as I heard taxi's charge 40-50 dollars to go to the airport. I want to say our flight is at 9:30 or 10am. We are also sailing on the Star Princess. Did you like the ship?
CA traveler Posted October 28, 2005 #8 Share Posted October 28, 2005 I have been on the Star twice - last winter in the Caribbean and this past summer in the Baltic. I like the ship. The way it is designed, you do not feel like there are 2500 other people on board. I like the self service laundry that is available, especially on the 10 day cruise. MTemple212 Posted October 28, 2005 #9 Share Posted October 28, 2005 For those of you who sailed on the Star Princess sailings that went to Oslo, about what time did they start letting people off the ship if you had early flights?
SaylorGirl Posted October 28, 2005 #10 Share Posted October 28, 2005 We were on the Oslo sailing. We were off around 6:30 as we had a 10:00 flight and we were not the first ones off the ship. We even had breakfast before we left. The airport is not too far away.
swooldri Posted November 30, 2005 #11 Share Posted November 30, 2005 What are the chances of making a 9AM flight out of Copenhagen on Tuesday 9/12/06? We are due in at 5AM. We appear to be the only ship in port that Tuesday morning. Thanks, steve
MTemple212 Posted November 30, 2005 #12 Share Posted November 30, 2005 Based on what I have read on these boards you shouldn't have a problem. Once thing that is good about Copenhagen is that the airport isn't far from the city. I was told by someone that I could get on the metro stop a couple of blocks from where the ships ties up and the metro goes right to the airport. MTemple212 Posted December 14, 2005 #16 Share Posted December 14, 2005 Steve, I don't think you will have a problem but maybe you should check with Princess. I think my flight is at 9:30am and I am not going to worry about it. Someone informed me that there was a metro station not far from the pier and it goes to the airport in about 10-15 minutes. gunnywife Posted December 21, 2005 #17 Share Posted December 21, 2005 My question is: How in the world do you carry all your luggage to the Metro and then off the Metro into the airport? Does Princess have a one way transfer from ship to airport? That's what we did coming back from Hawaii on the Island. Lynn
MTemple212 Posted December 21, 2005 #18 Share Posted December 21, 2005 Well, if you have luggage that rolls I guess it wouldn't be too difficult. The wife and I took the Metro from Providence to Boston once and then got on a metro bus to Logan airport and it wasn't too bad. I guess it depends on how much you can handle. The lockers are easy to find and use in Copenhagen.
srpilo Posted December 29, 2005 #20 Share Posted December 29, 2005 SaylorGirl.. As long as for sure there's lockers in the station, that a fantastic suggestion !! Thanks Srpilo
mycruz Posted December 30, 2005 #21 Share Posted December 30, 2005 There are two ways to store your luggage at the Copenhagen train station. Self serve lockers and attnedants, I believe the cost was about $20 for the day for all our luggage. We each had a small rolling carry on and well as a large bag. I have to say it was a little rough getting it up on the train when we left for the airport. I was right at the weight limit!

jronilo Posted January 27, 2006 #23 Share Posted January 27, 2006 We have a 7:30A BA flight, it sounds like we will be able to make it, just wanted your thoughts?
MTemple212 Posted January 27, 2006 #24 Share Posted January 27, 2006 Not sure about if you will make that flight or not, that is kind of early! The ship has to go thru customs as well, plus you have to get a taxi and go to the airport, plus check-in early as the airlines require.
gooselace Posted January 28, 2006 #25 Share Posted January 28, 2006 We're looking at an itinerary that have us change planes in Amsterdam. Does anyone know whether we would have to get our bags from the IAD-AMS flight and then check them in for the AMS-CPH flight? Would we be going through customs twice? There seems to be ample time (2-3 hrs.), but we're not up for too much lugging/rolling of luggage. These may be dumb questions but I've never done an international flight with change of planes. Had planned on a nonstop, but there is a significance difference in price.
