Brugge Tour

When it comes to Bruge (or Bruges) it is a relatively compact walled city (all the tours stay within the walls). One can walk around the entire town in a couple of hours (without the need for a guide) without much difficulty. English is widely spoken and most of the cafes/restaurants have multi-language menus. So instead of spending 40 Euros (per couple) for somebody to walk you around, you could simply buy an inexpensive guide book (or go to the tourist office and get a free map/guide) and enjoy. We first visited the city during a port day (in Zebrugge) and returned a few years later to spend a few days at a wonderful local B&B.

For those who love beer, Belgium is a fantastic place to sample :). They also have some great moules et frites (when in season).

Thanks for the link, but Bruges isn't a place I would associate with a coach tour.

The cobbled centre is very compact & easy to walk, and walking the streets is so much better than peering out of a window.

The size of the bus demonstrates that larger vehicles aren't permitted in the centre. For instance, ships' Bruges-on-your-own transfers drop passengers at the Minniewater, a 15 - 20 minute walk (or ride in a small & inexpensive service bus) to the centre.

JB :)

Ps - when did France invade Belgium? :p
