avery66 Posted August 2, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 2, 2015 (edited) We are booked on the Christmas sailing of the Crown Princess (Mexican Riviera) We were originally booked in an MA minisuite on the Dolphin Deck, but I discovered that there was a minisuite on the Emerald Deck available. I've always wanted to try these cabins because I just do not like the open balconies on the Dolphin Deck, no privacy whatsoever. (I've sailed the Sapphire and the Golden, Dolphin Deck minisuites both times) I asked Princess to "downgrade" us to the minisuite on the Emerald Deck, and they were happy to do so, but warned us about noise from Club Fusion. I did some quick research on here, and the general consensus is that as long as you are in an odd-numbered cabin (Starboard) you will not be bothered by the noise. Our cabin is, indeed, odd-numbered. But most of these posts were at least 4 years old. I know that the Crown was recently in dry dock. Just checking here to see if anyone has more recent experience/info. Thanks in advance for your help! Edited August 2, 2015 by avery66 typo

Thanks in advance for your help! To us its (noise) never been an issue in any location on Emerald deck (minis). Mark your booking "no upgrade"!! Or you may end up back on Dolphin deck.
jasbo49 Posted August 2, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 2, 2015 Taking all the Grand-class ships as a whole, I've never heard of anyone having noise problems in the starboard Emerald minis (unless you count groaning from the thrusters). The stage is on the port side of the night club below, and I've read about a fair amount of noise on the port side, particularly the aft-most minis. We ourselves have stayed in only one: E725 on the Golden. We liked it enough that we booked a similar cabin for our upcoming Grand cruise. In short, no sweat. And as Colo Cruiser said, ask the Princess people to mark your booking "no upgrade." Princess still ranks the Dolphin deck minis as the superior cabin, and you could get upgraded to the very cabin you're fleeing. Jim
ORbeachlover Posted August 21, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 21, 2015 We got off the Crown last week. My husband and I were in Emerald 729 and I had other family members in 723, 725 and 727. There was no problem with noise from Club Fusion in any of these cabins. It is a really quiet part of the ship as there is not a lot of foot traffic either. The only real noise usually involved the thrusters when the ship was docking in port. In addition, there was sometimes a vibration from the engine but certainly nothing that would stop me from booking any of these rooms again. I'm happy to answer any other questions you may have about these rooms.
OCruisers Posted August 21, 2015 #7 Share Posted August 21, 2015 Keep in mind it's a l-o-n-g hallway walk! If that's not a problem for you, you'll be perfectly fine. :)
IECalCruiser Posted August 21, 2015 #8 Share Posted August 21, 2015 We were in E731 and our friends were in E729 on the Crown. No noise issues from Club Fusion. The extended balcony of E731 was wonderful!

Well worth it. :D

Sometimes I go to an event or activity at the front, sometimes in the middle, and sometimes aft. It all evens out to about the same total amount of walking no matter where my cabin is. jasbo49 Posted August 21, 2015 #11 Share Posted August 21, 2015 Keep in mind it's a l-o-n-g hallway walk! I've seen you post this before, and I keep wondering whether you somehow missed the stairs and elevators just a few doors away. I've had plenty of cabins farther from the stairs than the Emerald mini we had. Jim

soudersmes Posted August 21, 2015 #13 Share Posted August 21, 2015 Hi Everyone, So now I'm freaking out as we have booked a mini suite on the Dolphin deck. While I sort of realized that they were open as I've seen them below us on the Baja and Caribe decks, I didn't realize that people are so offended by them. Can someone who has used these mini suites tell me if it's that annoying or problematic not having privacy? Maybe just reassure me that I have spent a lot of money on a bad room? We are on the Crown Princess and leave in October, so we are stuck. I was worried about the Emerald since it's over the clubs. I read the starboard side is quieter. Thanks Margaret

Thanks Margaret We LOVE having a mini-suite on Dolphin Deck as close as possible to the mid-ship elevator lobby. People from above have to stand at their balcony railing and lean down to look down on us. We've never found privacy to be an issue. :D We like the mid-ship location because the places we mostly go are mid-ship or forward. Whatever, we are no farther than half way from our cabin wherever we go on the ship. The least expensive mini-suites are on Emerald Deck. There is a reason for that BUT some people really like them and will become annoyed if you say anything bad about them like l-o-n-g walks. Going back to those cabins from Princess Theatre, the Casino, Lotus pool area, etc. is a mighty long walk. Margaret, don't worry and look forward to having a GREAT cruise! :D LuLu

Thanks Margaret We have sailed in dolphin deck minis many times and would again in a heartbeat. it's funny, other than on glacier days in Alaska or sail away, we really rarely notice others out at the same times we are. Dolphin minis are quite nice. Enjoy :)
iecruiser Posted August 22, 2015 #16 Share Posted August 22, 2015 We were in E727 in June and it was great. No noise at all and the walk was no problem would book that cabin again in a heartbeat.
