cstar87 Posted August 2, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 2, 2015 A little help please. Im going on a cruise next april and had a few questions about the drink package that i cant find online anywhere. I would be looking into getting the premium package, most likely. I thought i heard they did away with if one person in the room gets a drink package everyone has to. My next thing is i heard you can actually only get a limited number of drinks a day. How many drinks can you order at one time? Does the package include those after dinner shots? mark22mac Posted August 2, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 2, 2015 Everyone in the room doesn't have to buy the package no limit on drinks for entire day but only 1 at a time.
leaveitallbehind Posted August 2, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 2, 2015 Only one person 21 or over can order the drink packages. It is no longer necessary for all in the stateroom to do so. The amount of drinks that can be ordered is unlimited, however only one drink can be ordered at a time. This is in part to discourage sharing. I don't believe the after dinner shots are included but perhaps someone else can confirm.
ThaNectar Posted August 2, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 2, 2015 - both people do not have to buy the package. U can buy individually - no number of drinks. Drink as much as u want -u are supposed to be able to only order 1 drink at a time per customer ( if u tip them extra, u get whatever u want) -we got shots no problem (not sure what the "legal" rules on shots are though )

How many drinks can you order at one time? Does the package include those after dinner shots? The package DOES include the after dinner shots - but it DOES NOT include the glass. Make sure you tell the cocktail server in the MDR that you only want the shot. (Good idea to give him a little something extra the first night - then they won't try each and every night to sell you the glassware.) Personally - and ONLY MY OPINION - I will ALWAYS cruise with the drink package. Such a wonderful feeling of freedom - not caring how much I drank or how much it cost or if I was going to like it. Some people wouldn't dream of it. I personally wouldn't cruise without it! Let us know if you have more questions! AtlantaAlly Posted August 2, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 2, 2015 Others have answered your other questions. But this reminds me. We did not see a single passing of after dinner shots as we had on previous cruises. Unfortunate. I actually thought they had completely done away with them and just ordered amaretto on the rocks. That would suck! That might be a ship by ship thing. They still served them last August on FOS - and we loved getting them. I'll make sure to ask the cocktail server in October (again on FOS). pettygirl Posted August 3, 2015 #8 Share Posted August 3, 2015 Just a quick inclusion to the suggestions above: servers do only serve one alcoholic drink at a time, to discourage sharing of the package. However, I have never had an issue with getting, for instance, a mixed drink and a bottle of water together. Or buying a bottle of wine for the dinner table, and all 4 of us at the table each having a glass. So while it is regulated to rightfully curtail people taking advantage, it's not overly militant either. :) Hope this helps!
mollyeilis Posted August 3, 2015 #9 Share Posted August 3, 2015 We did not see a single passing of after dinner shots as we had on previous cruises. Unfortunate. I actually thought they had completely done away with them... Same. But not recently; our first Royal cruise since 2003 was January 2014 and the waiter NEVER brought or offered a shot in a souvenir glass (or a shot or a glass separately) after dinner. They had only just started the new version of the drinks packages then, and people weren't bemoaning the packages causing a reduction in service, so I truly thought they just didn't do that anymore. shipnut339 Posted August 3, 2015 #10 Share Posted August 3, 2015 I had the drink package and my glass was never empty!! no limit shots too. extra tips do help considering that the bartenders split the gratuities and some work harder than others so we tipped our bartender a little ok maybe a lot lol
mark22mac Posted August 3, 2015 #11 Share Posted August 3, 2015 Before the drink packages they used to Come Around after dinner wanting you to buy after dinner shots now with the package you never see that anymore you have to ask for them and yes they are covered but not pushed on you like they used to be. shipnut339 Posted August 3, 2015 #12 Share Posted August 3, 2015 I have noticed that the smaller ships still come around with the dinner shots but not so much on the larger ones, mainly because their are so many dining options on board now thats what one bartender told me anyway
champagne123 Posted August 3, 2015 #13 Share Posted August 3, 2015 (edited) While we are on the subject, I have a question. This is the first time we will be getting the drink package and I have done a search for my question to no avail. When we are lounging by the pool, my husband will usually be the one to go to the bar to get both of us a cocktail. Does this mean he will not be able to get 2 at the same time.....even if he presents both cards? 665 Posted August 3, 2015 #18 Share Posted August 3, 2015 Never been on a RCI cruise before. On our one and only previous cruise with NCL (Epic) we could purchase ice buckets of beer (buy 5 get 1 free, I think). I don't know if RCI provide these buckets of beer but I assume even if they do you could not acquire one through the drinks package if they are so strict on 1 drink at a time. Can anyone advise? They do have beer bags I think you get 5 but not with the package and I really don't remember the price but It wasn't get 1 free it came out to like a $1 cheaper per bottle or something close to that. Ice used to melt quickly beer got warm had to carry it around just not worth the hassle. Now I just get the PP
butterfly2 Posted August 3, 2015 #22 Share Posted August 3, 2015 Does anyone know for sure that if you buy a package which includes beer if you can use it for premium cans of beer such as Guiness? We like beer, but Drink only premium beer like Guiness, Boddingtons, Fosters, Stella, Heineken. If it doesnt include those the package would be useless to us.
