cthrn27 Posted August 9, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2015 Hi, all. The days are finally flying, and we will be cruising SOON!! We have a large amount of time between getting OFF of the ship and flying home. I was wondering about the air boat/everglades excursion. It sounds great, but I noticed several comments THIS year saying that the everglades were dry and that impacted the tour. Can anyone confirm or deny? We are talking about touring on 8/27/15. I did check the "ports" board, and nothing there. Thank you (again)
anewmac Posted August 9, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 9, 2015 We did Cooperstown in March and it was well wet. Hasn't FL got a lot of rain recently? If you do end up going check groupon we got a deal 4 for the price of 2.
Swampbabe Posted August 9, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 9, 2015 Central Florida has gotten quite a bit of rain, south Florida not so much. We are a BIG state :D
Homosassa Posted August 9, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 9, 2015 Central Florida has gotten quite a bit of rain, south Florida not so much. We are a BIG state :D The karst system in Florida means that rain from the northern part of the state eventually drains down into the Everglades so, yes, heavy rain anywhere in the state will eventually impact the Everglades. Homosassa Posted August 9, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 9, 2015 In any case, lower water levels in the Everglades can have a positive effect on the sighting of various critters. Any water animals or birds will be concentrated in the areas that contain water. However, if you are doing an air boat tour, there will be less water for the boats to use. Seeing wildlife would be difficult in an air boat would be difficult in either high or low water as the engine noise will scare the critters away.
