Venice Disembark - is 'easy walk off' an option?

We have a relatively early flight (12pm) on the day of disembarkation in Venice and were planning to walk off the ship with our own bags and head to the airport, but I read a couple of forum posts suggestioning that this is not possible in Venice?

 

can anyone who has been on a recent cruise confirm if this is still the case?

That would be a cruise line policy issue- I would be asking on the board for that cruise line.

 

Generally speaking, I can't see a reason it wouldn't be available, but that is up to the cruise line. What cruise line are we talking about?

Its with NCL in a few weeks time

 

In fact I know that NCL do allow you to walk off with your own bags in other ports but I read that this is a recent rule introduced by Venice Port Authority

 

I dont know if it was just a short term thing or is still in force as the posts I read were a few months ago.
