Dining on the Dream

I have a few questions about how the dining works on the Disney Dream. We have been on a lot of cruises but this is the first one with Disney. Do they have formal nights? I know on our other cruises you are assigned to the same dining room, same table, same time each night. How does Disney do it? I have been on line reading information but I think I am more confused. Thanks for any information you can give me.

There are 3 Main Dining Rooms on the Dream. You will be assigned to each in turn. For a 3 night cruise, you will dine in each MDR once. For a 4 night cruise, you will dine in one of them a second time. There are different menus served in each dining room (called their Signature menus). On the 4 night cruise one of the two nights that you dine in the same MDR, you will have the Pirate Menu (for Pirate Night), and the other night you'll have that MDRs Signature menu.

You are assigned to a specific table number, with the same servers every night. The table you are assigned to will be located in a similar location within each MDR, but not an identical location (the MDRs are laid out differently).

There is no formal night on short cruises. Since you are on the Dream which normally does 3 and 4 night cruises, no formal night. One night is called "Dress up optional" which means just that. If you want to dress up, this is the night. If you want to be clean and neat in cruise casual, that's fine too.

OK, there is NOTHING you have to worry about with dining. There are 3 main dining rooms on the Dream. On a 3 night cruise, you will eat once in each room. On a 4 night cruise, you'll have one repeat. You don't get to choose the repeat. When you check in at the terminal, your KTTW card will have printed on it your restaurant for each night. You will be assigned to one table number and one serving team. They move with you to the different restaurants.

ALL you have to do is show up at the door of the restaurant at the appointed time. You will be escorted to your table and all will be well. That night, your server will remind you of which restaurant you are in the next night, but if you forget, show your KTTW to any cast member--they will help you. Your SAME serving team will be there to welcome you.

It all makes total sense when you do it, but is a little hard to explain. DON'T worry at all. If you go to the wrong restaurant, they will look at your KTTW card and re-direct you. There will also be a "ticket" with the same info on it in your room. You can hand them the ticket rather than showing the KTTW card if you wish.

Example, if you are table 47 with Joe and Sam, you are at table 47 with Joe and Sam each night. But which restaurant has table 47 with Joe and Sam changes each night. Same table number, same team, different room.

Thanks to the OP for the question because it has been confusing to me too...and thanks for the answers that helps alot!!

If I might ask another question? On the three night cruise on Dream I am thinking that the Pirate night would be night #2 and the "dress up" night would be the last night. I am correct or is it always different?

Yes, the 3 night cruise typically is night 2 for Pirate night and night 3 as Dress Up Optional. It could vary, but this is "standard".

One note, on the 3 night cruise, you don't get the Pirate Menu for pirate night, just the Signature menu in whatever MDR you are in. But you have all the other Pirate night activities - shows/fireworks.

It is totally easy once you do it, and if you have ANY problems, the staff is more than pleased to help you.

We went to the wrong restaurant one night--it was one of those repeat nights when I just didn't pay attention. The guy at the podium smiled at us, said "You're in the wrong room, you belong in Lumiere's," without even looking at our KTTW! OK, so it was a 14 night cruise; I guess they got used to us. But on any cruise, any CM can sort it out for you just by looking at your KTTW card.

Thank you. We are really looking forward to this cruise. We have done so many other cruises but never Disney. WE love Disney World so we are so excited about this and going to the private island. I am sure I will have a lot more questions before our cruise. Thanks again.
