Questions about Dawn Spa/suite breakfast

My Jade 2017 cruise was cancelled with NCL's redeployment.

We can rebook the Jade for 2016 or choose another cruise. My goal is to keep my protected perks. We got them before the add-on costs of fees and grats.

I am also considering the Dawn 2/19-26/16 out of New Orleans. I have been on the Dawn... a while ago... and it was a CTN.

We want to make this a girls spa trip with spa passes. We have never before purchased the spa passes, we have only toured the thermal spa.

1. How is the Dawn's spa? Is it as nice as the Jewel class spas for the spa pass?

I know it is in the aft. I love the aft suites so that would work.

Where is the suite Breakfast and lunch venue on the Dawn?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have been on the Dawn 3 times but have not been on her since 2012 (going on her again next summer). The suite breakfast and lunch was always in Cagney's.

Here are my thoughts on the Thermal Spa on the Dawn. I have not been on the Jade but I have been on the Pearl and the Gem. The thermal suites were excellent on these ships. The tiled, heated loungers, jetted pool, hot tub, and men's area was far superior on the Gem and the Pearl compared to the Dawn. I toured the spa on the Dawn but did not purchase the thermal pass. The Dawn did not have the big jetted pool and did not have the heated loungers. It does have a lap pool (still very small if you are someone who usually swims laps in a pool on at home) and I think also had a hot tub. The men's area was quite a bit smaller as well. To me, the thermal suite on the Dawn was OK but no comparison to the Pearl and Gem's. I did not bother with the thermal pass on the Dawn. It is still nice however.

Thank you, Jim. I was worried about that being the case. I have been on the Jewel twice and Dawn once. I much preferred the Jewel. I jokingly called the Dawn Jewel-lite. Not quite up to the same standard.

I just got off the phone with NCL and they have not uploaded the redeployed ships' schedules... I may dig around and find something else. Or we might move our Jade trip up a year as NCL offered.

I appreciate your taking the time to help.

Haha! I think the Jewel-lite is an accurate description in my opinion. I think it would be really fine/nice if I had not experienced the Pearl and the Gem thermal suites first.

I do like the Dawn but I prefer the Jewel-class ships. I have yet to go on the newer ships but I will get there some day.

Enjoy your search for your replacement cruise! I hope you can find something that works well.

Hi DMH15. Can you give me any info on the CTN of the Dawn. Was gonna try it out for the Nov one out of New Orleans. Was everything open? Did they have shows? Etc. Thanks in advance!

Do not recall shows. But spa, casino, specialty all open and flowing. Fast paced. Like a cruise on steroids.

People wanting to get as much in as possible. We had fun.

Hi, Donna.

I am going on the Dawn for the first time in less than 6 weeks, and have been on the Star twice and the Pearl twice, and Jewel once.

In my opinion, the Pearl's spa is the best in the fleet! No comparrison on any of the other ships I've been on. That being said, I bought a spa pass for our upcoming Dawn cruise. We just love spending relaxing time in the spa, and it was a reduced cost if purchased pre-cruise, so made the decision easy.

We did not get a spa pass on all of our Caribbean cruises since they were warm-weather cruises to ports where we did water/beach excursions. So that is another consideration if you do a Caribbean cruise. But from the deck plans, it looks like the spa on the Dawn is the same as the spa on the Star, which I liked more than the spa on the Jewel.

We have only sailed in suites lately (yes, it's true: once in a suite, always in a suite!), and love the breakfast/lunch perk. Dawn has not yet had drydock to change Cagney's/Star Bar to Moderno/Mojito's, so they will still be in Cagney's.

Hope this helps.

The Dawn will undergo a retrofit next year between her NOLA cruises and the start of the Bermuda season. One of the changes will probably move the Moderanro to the old Star Bar next to Cagneys - that will become the venue for the suite meals. Also the Blue Lagoon will become OSheehan's.

Also the Dawn was the first experiment with the garden villas and most of the overall layout for the Jewel class was based on the Dawn.

**** Just in case you are still considering this... check your dates as we will be on the Dawn from 2/14-2/21 2016. Maybe you meant 2017?

We also love the aft and had booked a suite on the aft but before we left we got an upsell to the Owner's Suite.:D Unfortunately we weren't really able to enjoy it as DH got VERY sick with a bacterial infection and spent quite a while in the infirmary. When he did get out they told us to stay in the cabin and out of the sun as that may escalate the infection. We are booked in an aft suite again and would really love to get a call from the upsell fairy again so that we could enjoy it this time around. It really was worth every penny since we had to stay in the cabin at least it was a really big beautiful one. :D

I remember looking into the spa but when I found out that there were no tile loungers I decided not to get one as that is the main reason I love it.

Well, maybe we'll see you in February?

Thank you. So undecided at this point. What a dilemma. (Kidding.)
