Obc question

Balance on your account. Check your account the first day or two onboard and you should see it as a credit as the first item on the bill. Do not wait until the last day, in case there is a problem. Bring any receipts or documents that you have to support your claim.

Thanks for asking this, retiredkid. Yesterday I purchased several different amounts for my cabin mates so was wondering the same same thing and came to search CC for the answer; you made it very easy for me to find :)

Thanks DaveOKC for the answer and the tip about checking right away.

Would someone confirm please whether the OBC that you buy online prior to embarking is in US dollars only?

On Celebrity, we were able to purchase OBC with CAD $ with a very attractive exchange rate. With the exchange rate currently north of 30%, I couldn't remember whether HAL offered a similar program.

I did notice though that when we booked the clamshell for HMC that it was in US $. Just wondering whether everything on HAL's site under your cruise excursions is indeed in US $?

Yes, OBC and excursion fees are all in USD only. When you book your cruise through HAL, the cruise, the taxes, fees and port expenses, as well as insurance are in CAD but anything after that is in USD.

Even if you don't fill out a gift message you'll get a card. We always buy more than enough OBC to cover our hotel service charge and other expenses. Since you can only purchase them in $100 increments, I have a fist full of cards to sign and drop at the Front Office. Plus, we get one from our TA for any OBC and cards for any dining purchases. I have wroter's cramp by the time I'm finished!

Besides checking the first couple of days to make certain that you have all the shipboard credit you are entitled to, check your account about every 2 or 3 days during the entire cruise to make certain everything is correct -- all charges are only yours. Don't wait until the morning of disembarkation to check your final bill.

A few times we have had problems with our account and it is easier to settle matters as soon as you see these errors.
