Rare Jamman54 Posted September 5, 2015 Author #176 Share Posted September 5, 2015 I'm enjoying following along, as usual, Jeff. Patti's sail away shots are terrific. I do like sailing from Miami, and got to wave to my old friends Breeze and Glory in July. :):D I appreciate your dedication to Kevin, too. Heather Hey Heather! Thanks for following along yet again, and for your kind words. From what we saw, the Getaway looked like an awesome ship!
Jimmy Geegitz Posted September 5, 2015 #177 Share Posted September 5, 2015 Great review Jeff! I have to say I think it's time for Edge:The Comedy Juggler to go. He's had like an 8 year run. Send him to Holland America or something.
gtaylor Posted September 6, 2015 #178 Share Posted September 6, 2015 Great review so far, but would LOVE a mention about the above dining choices, How was the tomato soup vs the corn chowder? Was the Mac and Cheese like that served at the Seaday Brunch, which was wonderful? How was the Salmon? Was it Broiled (as we love) or poached and baked or something else? Any comments would be appreciated. gary
SenatorsFan Posted September 6, 2015 #179 Share Posted September 6, 2015 Hey Heather! Thanks for following along yet again, and for your kind words. From what we saw, the Getaway looked like an awesome ship! It was indeed awesome! Breeze is still my favourite Carnival ship, but Getaway has a slight edge at the moment. I think partly because it was different sailing with just my DH and neither of our sons for the first time. Crusin Karen Posted September 6, 2015 #180 Share Posted September 6, 2015 Someday we're going to sail together. Rare Jamman54 Posted September 6, 2015 Author #181 Share Posted September 6, 2015 (edited) Great review Jeff! I have to say I think it's time for Edge:The Comedy Juggler to go. He's had like an 8 year run. Send him to Holland America or something. Hey Jimmy!! Thanks for following along again!! Edge probably has a lot of shelf life left. Remember Zuniga? He was around for decades, and for all I know, he could still be performing! :D Great review so far, but would LOVE a mention about the above dining choices,How was the tomato soup vs the corn chowder? Was the Mac and Cheese like that served at the Seaday Brunch, which was wonderful? How was the Salmon? Was it Broiled (as we love) or poached and baked or something else? Any comments would be appreciated. gary Hi Gary! Thanks for reading. When I present my food porn, I rarely give my opinion as food is very subjective. I'll only comment if I really like or dislike something. But since you asked, in opinion the tomato soup was very good, and the corn chowder was a little watery. We've never had the mac and cheese at the Sea Day Brunch, so we can't compare, but I would think it would be very similar. The salmon fillet is grilled, and Patti and I both like it. Hope that helps, and stay tuned for much more! :) Edited September 6, 2015 by Jamman54

mikel24m Posted September 6, 2015 #183 Share Posted September 6, 2015 Great review !! I read that you did some gambling, how was the casino? I see your from North Jersey do you get down in AC to gamble at all ? We are going on the Breeze next month for basically free from the Tropicana here in Atlantic City. Not too many people know about that perk :)

I see your from North Jersey do you get down in AC to gamble at all ? We are going on the Breeze next month for basically free from the Tropicana here in Atlantic City. Not too many people know about that perk :) Thanks for reading. I wound up losing a little for the cruise, so not to bad. The casino hosts, pit bosses, and dealers were great. Though I used to go to AC fairly often, now I only go a couple times a year. The Sands in Bethlehem, PA is less than an hour away, so I go there more.

I have a question - I'm sure that there is a reason there is a "secret" deck, and I'm not trying to spoil the secret, but - how do I get in on the secret?!! We have an inside cabin, so no balcony, and I'd really like to check this out!!

Rare Jamman54 Posted September 7, 2015 Author #196 Share Posted September 7, 2015 Day 2 – Our first day at sea….. We slept in until 8 am, and looking out the window we could see it was a beautiful day and the seas were calm. I stepped out on our “secret” deck and took this picture as we sailed towards St. Maarten….. At 9 am Patti and I made our way to the Sea Day Brunch on the lower level of the Blush Restaurant. The brunch is served on sea days from 8:30am to 1pm.….. We used our free drink coupons for a Malibu bay breeze and a screwdriver….. Patti started out with a fruit plate….. To be continued….. Rare Jamman54 Posted September 7, 2015 Author #197 Share Posted September 7, 2015 I had an order of huevos rancheros, along with a side of bacon and corned beef hash. You can also get huevos rancheros at the Blue Iguana Cantina at breakfast on ships that have them….. Patti ordered a tomato and cheddar cheese omelet, along with a side of turkey bacon….. The chandeliers are glowing WHITE, which looks elegant compared to the ORANGE at dinner each night. Yes, I’m obsessing! Lol. After brunch, Patti was going to play bingo in the Ovation Theater, followed by the port talk, and then the shopping talk. So, it was my job to take the camera, take some shots around the ship, and out on the open decks. First, I needed to make a stop in the Men’s room, and while there I just had to chuckle. Since nobody was in there but me, I took these shots. Notice the tile behind each urinal which depicts a waterfall. They provided the visual, and you provide the sound effects. Brilliant! Lol. Let me just say that the public restrooms were kept spotless, at least the Men’s rooms were….. Out of the bathroom and into the arcade, located on Deck 4, aft….. To be continued…..
