Adult only pool on the Escape?

I really held off on posting, but I have to ask where the "kids have enough of their own areas" are on the ship..... The kids club? Yeah that room is HUGE! The little kid 1 foot deep swim area? Oh wait, adults can be there. So I'm thinking there are a heck of a lot more "adult only" (think bars, casino) on the ship then "kids only areas".

Most bars aren't even adults only; though some will note 18+ after certain hours, or kids can be there accompanied by adults, etc. Haven is not a kid free area.

I don't mind that they have created some adults-only spaces. The Escape is supposed to have an under 3 year olds nursery complimentary, so that we can go enjoy one of the adults-only areas. If they take away the free nursery, as has been rumored, I don't see them also keeping TWO adult-only areas; they'd likely make at least one of them all ages.

I was just wondering what someone meant when they type they are "on a mission". Sounds a little creepy to me, but they can clarify the statement.

On a mission is creepy, I agree, and mean spirited.... I always just think that if people are so anti children, why not go on a less family friendly cruise line.....

Like I said, I don't mind adult-only areas, that's fine. But when people publicly post they are "on a mission" regarding children on a family cruise ship, well, it really makes you wonder what they mean and hope they aren't on the same sailing as you. Never know who is just blowing smoke and who may really have a screw loose.

If we bring our sleeping infant in a stroller to a quiet adult-area (not the pool) and aren't allowed in the surrounding area the crew can inform us and we'll leave; no muss, no fuss. If some guest goes all lunatic on us we'll be sure to wave as they are put off at the next port.

Omg.. Wow what a way to plan your vacation ... Thinking of pool areas, for adults only... my god.

Why would you plan a vacation on a cruise ship were YOU know there will be small and big kids in all ages, if you dont want them around !!

I really dont get that .There other cruise lines for adults ..Then maybe you will have a great time there.

I figured eventually, some parent was going to come on here and say something lol. Let's be honest kids have the run of the damn ship, more adult only areas sounds like a great idea

Family friendly? Go read other threads there's other people accusing Norwegian of becoming less family friendly. I've said before I believe Norwegian is starting to target the 18 to 35 year old demographic. Think about it for the first time ever the Norwegian skies alcohol is now 100% free

Wrong again.

I've been trying to figure that one out as well! We might have to wait for a report back on that one.

Ditto.

Perhaps it has a lap time registration for the rides. Also not sure how the tubes go up if they're big in size, sharing the stairs with the other slides. Epic has a decent set of stairs and decks to share the foot traffic in my opinion. Curious how it will be on Escape! :D

"Make it the best of three on Aqua Racer, the newest tandem waterslide at sea."

Three rides for each tandem tube? Or is it proverbial?

Let's get back to the topic.....does the Escape have an adult only pool area like Spice H2O? Even more important, is there a Vibe area? I've graduated from Spice to H2O.

It seems to have Spice H20- the waterfall feature on the Breakaway is there but now called the Grotto (looks a little different).

Howeveer, I liked the Epic Spice H2o pool the best

Sorry for the offtopic above.

Spice opening title on the Escape.NCL. site is: "Spice H2O adults-only venue both day to night."

"Inspired by the renowned summer beach parties on the island of Ibiza, Spice H20 is an adult-only retreat. By day, you can lounge in hot tubs and a soothing waterfall grotto. By night, it’s a whole different beat. Let loose and dance beneath the stars as vibrant images display on the huge video screen."

Two jacuzzis, two showers and the grotto are the only water features on Escape's Spice H2O. The grotto looks nice!

I am not sure if one of the main pools will be adults only but Spice H2O should be pretty child free with an all day and night adult only policy.

Spice H2O is on Escape and is adults only, but it is not a pool area. It's the same as Getaway and Breakaway. Epic is the only ship that has a pool in Spice H2O.

Are you talking about Spice H2O on Epic? That's the only adult pool on that ship, and Spice doesn't have a pool on Escape. The adult pool on Escape will definitely allow pushchairs and small ones around it, just not IN it, if it works the same as sister ships Getaway and Breakaway.

Yes, Spice H2O.

A bit rude calling me creepy.... I am English not American so likely something lost in translation!

I like the fact there is an H20 area that is adults only and would just like to see that enforced in that area only. Children are welcome anywhere else on the ship.

Shall we just go back to all looking forward to the Escape....

I think a lot of the confusion started because the adult pool and Spice H2O are different things in different areas of the ship. This post was asking about the adult pool.

This is the original post:

Went on the Getaway in October 15, it was awesome and the main pool was "adult only". LOVED IT. Booked to sail on the Escape in December. Anyone know if the main pool will also be "adult only"??? Thanks!!

  • 1 month later...
I can't imagine that it will be like that. Those venue descriptions are just good sounding marketing blah. I can't see any other big enough venue on the Escape compared to the spinnaker lounge on the older ships or the bliss lounge on the Epic. So as long they don't want to do all sail away and nightly themed parties, music acts, movie and sport events adult only they need to open up Spice H2O for every age at times.

Agree. On the Breakaway the Spice H20 area is no longer adult only in the evening for that very reason. I am wondering if they were just not clear in the marketing that the adult-only aspect ends at 6pm (or whatever time is correct).

I think it is intentional the the main pool is not advertised as being adult only. It gives NCL flexibility to change on an as-needed basis. On my Feb 2014 Breakaway cruise, it was not adults only in that area. My dd swam in that pool and security checked to make sure there was an adult supervising her, but otherwise it was not an issue.

I don't care one way or the other if the main pool is adults only. But I laughed at the story about the CD asking kids to leave because a contest was too risque. You can hear it anywhere on the pool deck, including by the kids pool, which is where I was sitting on my last cruise when all of those contests were going on. Kids were definitely asking parents what it was all about. It's one thing to say you want the area itself reserved for adults, but don't kid yourself into thinking that you are protecting these children from inappropriate content by keeping them out.

Personally it does not bother me where the kids are at, as long as parents don't start saying hey watch what you say around my kid. That's one thing that's always gotten on my last nerve. I swear a lot , that's just how I am. I say if you are okay with your kids hearing profanity then they should be allowed to be whatever they want.

So what is that area? Sun deck ? Thanks for replying

Yes, sun deck with a bar, couple hot tubs I think, and a shower thing. In the next week or so, pictures should start appearing. For now, just search this site for Vibe and you will find tons of info.

Spice H2O is also an adult sun deck area that is much larger and has no fee. The one on Escape will have a new grotto thing.
