VB 4166 and VB 4168 have the largest balconies until you move up to one of the suites. Then it would be one of the corner aft suites that will be huge.

Nieuw Amsterdam is a nice ship, enjoy your cruise in whichever cabin you choose.

Those are 18 ft by 7.5 ft for a total of 135 sq ft ... but before you move up to a suite, the next largest are 4053, 4054, 4129, and 4137 at 9 ft wide by 14 ft deep for a total of 126 sq ft.

Where are you able to find the square footage measurements of the balconies? We are booked in 7143 on N. Amsterdam - I am wondering if the size difference is significant to move to a lower deck.

Thank you!

The Port and Starboard standard Veranda/Balcony are mostly the same size 6 ft. deep by 9 ft. wide. The aft/stern verandas are deeper and vary depending on deck.

The exceptions to the 6 ft. depth are as follows:

Port and Starboard Veranda staterooms on Deck 4, Upper Promenade, are 7.5 ft. in depth.

Forward Port Veranda Staterooms on Deck 5, 5004 through 5052 and Starboard 5003 through 5049 along with Aft Port Veranda Staterooms 5142 through 5182 and Starboard 5137 through 5183 are only 4.5 ft. deep.

These depths and widths only apply to standard Veranda/Balcony staterooms .... NOT suites.

Are your answers the same for the Westerdam? Same layout?

The Signature Ships are a bit different from the Vista Class, mainly on Deck 5.

The Port and Starboard standard Veranda/Balcony on the Vista Class (of which the Westerdam is) ships are mostly the same size 6 ft. deep by 9 ft. wide. The aft/stern verandas are deeper and vary depending on deck.

The exceptions to the 6 ft. depth are as follows:

Port and Starboard Veranda staterooms on Deck 4, Upper Promenade, are 7.5 ft. in depth.

Port Staterooms on Deck 5, Veranda, 5056 through 5138 and Starboard Staterooms 5053 through 5135 are only 4.5 ft. deep.

7143 has the standard 6' x 9' balcony. To get something deeper you could move up to 8027 through 8117, which are 7' deep, or down to 4005-4050 or 4133-4179, which are 7.5'. But be aware that 4005 to 4042 have steel-wall railings instead of see-through plexiglass. Also be aware that port cabins 4168-4174 and starboard 4173-4179 don't have tubs, only showers.

I'm looking at the Nieuw Amsterdam, wanting to book a verandah suite. Just want a larger balcony. That's about all I know. Planning a cruise out of Ft Lauderdale in February 16

Those aft cabins on Deck 7 are pretty relaxing. Looking back at the ship's wake and being able to see side to side at the rail is a nice feature. You're also only 2 decks away from the Lido pool, etc, which makes the stairs an option if you're so inclined. We've been staying in the aft corner suites and the lack of through traffic makes the aft cabins pretty quiet.
