Kentmcc Posted September 7, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 7, 2015 Any tips on a cheaper hotel. Decent but not super expensive. Close to any type of family friendly pub/restaurant would be great
erby2283 Posted September 8, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 8, 2015 Any tips on a cheaper hotel. Decent but not super expensive. Close to any type of family friendly pub/restaurant would be great Can't recommend a specific one bc we stay with family of friends but search for a hotel in Mount Pleasant, SC. It's just over the bridge and some even offer a park and cruise rate. Then you can just take a taxi to the port. There are some really cool places to eat in Mount Pleasant, Sullivan's Island or even in downtown Charleston. Poogan's Porch is one of our favorites in Charleston. Elsabear Posted September 8, 2015 #3 Share Posted September 8, 2015 We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Mt Pleasant - like the previous poster said right over the bridge - close to port & lots of stuff including eating places clean & friendly - liked it so much before the cruise we returned there for 5 days to sightsee Charleston

Arzeena Posted September 8, 2015 #5 Share Posted September 8, 2015 We stayed at the Embassy Suites in historic Charleston. Walking distance to restaurants, shopping, etc. The Hampton Inn next door looked good too and so did the Courtyard Marriott further away.
TruckerDave Posted September 13, 2015 #6 Share Posted September 13, 2015 Days in mount pleasant South Carolina It's a dump. I stayed there a couple years ago for a wedding (before I moved here) and there are plenty of places that are much nicer then this place.
TruckerDave Posted September 13, 2015 #7 Share Posted September 13, 2015 OP, you didn't say are you driving or are you going got be needing taxis or some other mode of transportation? You don't say what "cheap" is or your budget so it is hard to give a decent answer. Downton (on the peninsula) will be much more expensive than Mt Pleasant, West Ashley or airpot areas. Hwy 17 (the road that connects Mt Pleasnt with Charleston. ) has plenty of places to eat on the MP side. In addition to the Holiday Inn Exp there is also a Hampton inn, Residence Inn and Comfort Inn in MP a little further up 17 at the Isle of Palms connector (Right next to Mt pleasant towne center if you want to google it)
