Celebrity Casino Club and MGM

(Cross posted on the Casinos board, but wanted a wider Celebrity audience)

Fellow cruising gamblers: We are looking for a new cruise line home for our play. Noticed that Celebrity is tied in with MGM, and had a couple of questions:

First, do you really earn MGM Tier credits with Celebrity ship play? If so, that's amazing!

Second, are all Celebrity casinos non-smoking? Again, amazing if true.

Finally, can anyone make a suggestion about a contact # and/or name at Celebrity casinos, other than the one posted on their website? We're defecting CET Diamond/NCL players (as you can see from my sig), and one of us has an M-life number, but truthfully we haven't played much at MGM properties.

We're going in cold on this one, and would just like to have every advantage we can.

Thanks!

First, all of Celebrity's casino's are completely smoke free all the time.

I was formerly for several years 7 Stars with Caesars and as such received three free cruises on NCL and joined the Casino's at Sea Club. I have sailed with Celebrity for over 20 years.

Have found that the benefits on NCL are much better and at much lower levels. Seems on Celebrity you can play forever and they give you a t shirt. I am at the point that I pretty much now travel exclusively on Celebrity and very rarely play the casinos because the machines are so tight. Can't comment on the MGM benefits.

Thanks. Sadly for a long time we thought NCL & CAS were the best, and they worked very well with our CET status. But that seems to be changing, and not for the better, so we're exploring other options.

I talked to a Celebrity casino rep this morning, and she confirmed that you do earn MGM tier points for Celebrity play. This is something that never happened over on NCL - the points earned on the two programs (CET and CAS) were never shared.

Obviously, all cruise casinos are tight. They have no reason to be otherwise. Guess we'll take a Celebrity cruise and see how it goes.

I played the casinos on NCL and found them looser than Celebrity, perhaps I didn't state it correctly originally, sorry but give it a try, there's a lot more to Celebrity ships than Casinos.

I'm a table player....so interested if you find any perks with that type of play. Pit bosses don't seem all that interested, even the "big money" tables. It does not appear they track your play.

I was told you need to average $50/hand for 2 hours per day to even be considered rating on Celebrity at the tables.

Happy sailing,

Jenna

Looking forward to hitting Elite+ on our next Celebrity sailing - thus will be able to get an Mlife PLATINUM card as a result.

That's a WHOLE LOT easier than taking the time (and $) to achieve 200,000 tier credits with Mlife (doing it the old way) - especially since they tightened up things a couple of years ago.

Platinum = Line pass at buffets and cafe's... as well as bypassing the taxi lines - which can be very long!

It does seem like the 5 MGM Tier points for every 1 Celebrity Casino point is a great way to earn MGM tier levels. Unless, of course, the $ in for 1 Celebrity Casino point is really, really high!

But in any case, this is the first cruise line I've been on where the cruise line casino points work toward their land based partner casino as well (obviously it works that way on RCI too, as they are the parent company). On NCL, there's no tie in between CAS and Caesar's/Harrah's.
