We dont like dress up during our vacations so we are skipping the MDR on formal nights. Is it an option to visit one of the specialty restaurants on those nights? What is the dress code for those restaurants? What is acceptable for men; collared shirt (oxford) and polo shirts, khakis or slacks? We will be cruising on the Jewel of the Seas. Thank you for your help.

What you describe will be fine for specialty restaurants.

And the MDR/MTD too...just because it's suggested formal nights it's never mandatory on RCI and you'll see all types and combinations of dress/style...as you well know Bob ;)

We did exactly this on our cruise last year on Jewel of the Seas. We don't participate in formal dining. I made a specialty dining reservation and we wore slacks and a blouse/khakis and a button down shirt and it was absolutely fine for their smart casual dress code. Portofinos was delicious by the way!

You are going to do what we do on every cruise. We skip the formal nights in the MDR and head to a specialty. We wear what you outlined above.
