B2B Fort Lauderdale Eurodam

Hi,

we just booked a cruise together with our parents.

We will go with the Eurodam from Fort Lauderdale Port Everglades.

It is a 14days cruise but after 7 days we are coming back to FLL.

We have never been on a B2B before.

 

How long will it take to get off the ship ?

What do we have to do coming back and want back on the ship ?

 

When will we have to be back if the ship will leave the port at 4pm ?

On the last full day of your first cruise, you will get a letter indicating where and what time you are to meet when you get back into Ft Lauderdale to go through immigration. Usually it is around 9:30 AM.

We have always been escorted off the ship, go through immigration and then we have to wait until the ship gets down to "zero" count -- meaning all passengers are off the ship.

Sometimes we have waited a half hour -- sometimes we have waited 1 1/2 hours.

Be sure that you take your Passports with you for immigration. You will also be given "In Transit" cards -- that allows you to bypass security and go directly back upstairs and sit in the lounge until you are allowed back on the ship.

If you decide to go out and tour Ft Lauderdale -- no problem -- you can leave the ship any time you want to -- just as long as it is before 10 AM. Those "In Transit" cards will help you get back on the quicker after you go through security -- you bypass check-in.

Just make certain you are back on the ship before 3:15 as you are required to go through the lifeboat drill again.

Breakfast is early on this turn-around day. Everything closes down by 8 AM.

Our B2B day will be christmas (24th of december) so we thought of going off the ship and go to FLL downtown, maybe a little of shopping (are the shops open at the US at christmas morning?) and looking at all the decoratete houses and then going back.

We will also rent a Cabana so we will have lunch up there. I think it will be more quiet and relaxing then going to the Ledo this day :)

We did this last year. I think every cruise might be different as we didn't have to get off the ship. We went to the showroom and went through immigration there. We could have gotten off the ship but chose not too.

we hated getting off the ship and standing around waiting for the inconsiderate stragglers to finally vacate. Now if they could find a better way for the B2B passengers to avoid the muster drill since most will have the same cabin and station it would make the cruise especially good.

Thx for posting this. I thought you had to get off early or much later. It was like that in Boston in May.

Are you doing a B2B or a 14-day Collector. On the Collector you shouldn't have to leave the ship.

 

We booked one journey of 14 days.

So it is maybe not a real B2B ?!?:confused:

HAL markets Collector cruises of varying lengths, which are shorter cruises combined at one fare, usually with a discounted fare less than B2Bs individual fares. Sounds like you are on a Collector.

I don't think there is any difference other than pricing and the booking number. It's splitting hairs really. If you take a look at poa's post # 5 there is a great description of the process. It mirrors what has happened on my cruises (b2b or collectors) in the last year.

Traditionally, all major malls and stores are closed in the Greater Ft.Laud. area. One exception is the Festival Flea Market in Pompano Beach, about 30 minutes by taxi from the Port. Some K-Marts, if still in business, may be open. Many of the restaurant chains will be open. Publix supermarkets are closed but Winn-Dixie stores are open with limited hours, usually!

Did you really mean the 24th? I couldn't find your cruise to sort it out for myself. If so, that's Christmas Eve in North America and, for the most part, a huge shopping day. If you meant the 25th, that's Christmas Day which tends to see many shops and almost all services closed. Some stores are open (like some grocers) but for very short hours.

Are you sure about your Turnaround day being the 24th? It looks to me that the cruise starts on the 20th and your turnaround day would be the 27th. In your countdown clock you are showing the zandam so I'm really confused.

Whether you will have to get off the ship or not to go through immigration depends a lot on how many passengers are doing the Collectors Cruise also known as a back-to-back.

A couple of times we have been called to the show lounge to do immigration because there were so many of us.

On our last cruise there were only 5 of us. So we had to get off the ship.

It is our fifth cruise out of FLL but First time shopping downtown and Doing a B2B 😊

We thought of going over to Fort Myers and Fly home from Tampa because we don't Know this side of Florida and we hate the Traffic around Miami😁

We do not say boxing day Or silent day!

We have

24th = Weihnachten = Christmas -starting in the evening, have Dinner together. Santa is coming and you sit "under" the Christmas trees, sing Christmas songs and go to church

25th = 1. Weihnachtsfeiertag = 1. Christmas vacation day - all Shops are closed. Maybe you meet your Familiy again Or you meet some friends and sleep Long ...

26th = 2. Weihnachtsfeiertag = 2. Christmas vacation day - all shops are closed. Maybe some Restaurants are Open. One more day to sleep Long and Hang around with Family and Friends.

 

So our important day for Christmas is the 24th

 

Maybe because of the Different Time zones of Germany and the USA Santa Clause arrives here in the evening and in the US in the Morning 🙊🙊🙊

This year we will be at Chile for Christmas and Antarctica for new year 😁😁

Next Year we will go with my parents because my Mum wants to go to Florida. I just Book so I will have a new Cruise-clock the next days ☀️☀️
