Aft-Facing cabins on the CROWN

IMHO the dreaded beam and the dreaded vent are both bogus. This is from being in fantail cabins on the Golden, the Diamond, the Crown, the Ruby, the Emerald, and the Caribbean. We love the fantail!

Well they are not that bogus. There are some balcony cabins that have the beam smack dab in the middle. :(

We have stayed in the corner aft suites. They have the beam and its no problem, the balcony's are big and have a table 4 chairs and 2 loungers. Lots of room for the balcony dinning. The wife likes the beam because when the sun is low and its baking you can find shade by getting behind it. The beam is not in the middle, it will be on the right side or left depending which side of the ship your on.The Caribe and Dolphin are the best, the Emerald deck is smaller. I can't comment on other aft rooms as we only stay in the corner suites when cruising. Love the rooms and the beam.

This photo gives you a pretty good idea of which cabins might have a problem with the beam. This is Ruby Princess but it would apply to Emerald, Crown, and Caribbean Princess also. The two cabins that I would avoid are B750 and B751, the second one in on both sides of Baja Deck; as Colo Cruiser points out, the beam is right in the middle. The Vista suites look like they might be a problem, but I've had these suites and can assure they are not--yes, the beams are there, but after short time you are no longer aware of them.

Great picture! Thanks!

For sure the beam is no problem in D736. As has been said, one loses awareness of the beam. D736 is absolutely wonderful:)

Caribe vista suite balcony is narrower and has 2 beams. The beam outside of the bedroom does block your view and difficult to get around. We are not large people and table was hard on 4 of us sitting at it. The other beam outside of living room wasn't bad, you do get more space inside Caribe vista rooms as well as the desk. Prefer aft Vista suites on Dolphin/Emerald deck as beam is non-issue and large balcony, room is darker inside. We have had smell when in all aft suites ar some point.

Penthouse suites have largest balconies with no beams (aft suites only on Crown), but vent and pool vent that makes noise. Owner Suites have a beam not bad, but narrow balcony, personally not our favorite balcony suite.

Have seen balcony rooms on Baja deck and very deep and beams not really an issue. You will feel some vibration, noisier because of wake and more motion.

You will either like being in the back or not, wherever you choose a room you will have a great balcony on Crown Princess.
