Rare grouchomarx Posted September 22, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 22, 2015 I am considering a November cruise on Anthem out of NJ in November but my concern is limited access to outdoor activities during those few cold days going down and back. I see there is an indoor pool and would like to know if it is warm enough in that area or in the pool to use it during the cold days. Thanks for any info you have. Merion_Mom Posted September 22, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 22, 2015 Absolutely. That's the reason that they built the indoor pool!
SnappyNappi Posted September 22, 2015 #3 Share Posted September 22, 2015 We cruised on quantum out of Bayonne last February... Very cold outside for the first and last day and a half of the cruise. We were able to enjoy the indoor family pool, although it was crowded for obvious reasons. For those over 18, the Solarium is also enclosed and is a great area for adults to relax with hot tub and wading pools. No shortage of indoor space in cold weather on quantum class. Rare grouchomarx Posted September 22, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted September 22, 2015 Wow thanks so much for this very useful information! I wasn't sure how well insulated the area was, or if it was designed more to keep rain out. The fact that it can be used in the cold weather is kind of a game changer.:)
SnappyNappi Posted September 22, 2015 #5 Share Posted September 22, 2015 (edited) Quantum class ships really are designed for cold weather sailing with much more enclosed space and activities. We sat in our bathing suits and shorts by the indoor pool and also in the Adult-only Solarium areas when it was literally freezing outside. We are cruising on Anthem in December with our kids and have no reservations about there being plenty to do and enjoy in the indoor areas of the ship. Happy sailing! nelblu Posted September 22, 2015 #7 Share Posted September 22, 2015 On our Feb. 6th Quantum cruise, we spent most of the day in the Solarium. Get a nice view of the Ocean/Sea, especially coming North, we hit some rough waters and it was a sight when some of the spray reached the Solarium deck. Marylovesprovo Posted September 28, 2015 #9 Share Posted September 28, 2015 Thanks a bunch. Departing out of Bayonne Nov. 22nd and this is a deal changer in what to bring in my backpack. Love to swim and great exercise while keeping cozy and beginning our relaxation immediately.
English Rose Posted September 28, 2015 #10 Share Posted September 28, 2015 This is one reason I chose this ship for a Transatlantic because it is designed more for indoor cruising and there is so much to do inside on the Quantum Class. I would hesitate for a hot itinerary.

We were on Quantum in February as well. Agree that the Solarium is the place to be on the cold days! We aren't big on the pool but love sitting in the jacuzzis. We were never bored on the cold days... like Snappy said, plenty of indoor venues to keep you busy. To be honest we found experiencing the climate change as we headed south in the dead of winter was pretty cool!
