Hong Kong Pier to Airport

We will be ending a cruise in HK. What are the options to the airport, besides the various cruise transfer packages? We are flying on our own air and will not need a tranfer to where we meet the cruise ship. Just need to get to HK airport. Any info?? Thanks:) HMH

Thanks for the link to the airport access information. It will be very helpful as we make our plans. Do you know if the busses on Nathan Road are numbered and how luggage is handled. Would it be similar to a airporter to SFO or LAX?hmh:)

To get to the HK International Airport from the Ocean Terminal, you have the following options:

1. Taxi (available at the Ocean Terminal). It takes about 30 minutes and the fare is about US$50.

2. Airport Express Train. The train runs every 12 minutes from the Kowloon Station and costs HK$ 90 (US$12). The journey takes 23 minutes. You may also check in your luggage and obtain your boarding pass (for most major airlines) at the Kowloon Station if you arrive 90 minutes before flight departure.

To get to the Kowloon Station from the Ocean Terminal, you may either:

Take a taxi (5 minutes), or

Use the Free Airport Express Shuttle Bus (every 12 minutes). The Bus No. K2 stops at the Marco Polo Prince Hotel and the Marco Polo Gateway Hotel which are only a short walk across the street from the Ocean Terminal. The Hotel staff can direct you to the bus stop.

3. Airport Bus No. A21

You will need to get to the bus stops. Allow at least one hour for the ride. This is the cheapest option (US$4) but the most complicated. Bus stop 4 or 5 is within walking distance of the Ocean Terminal.

It is also possible (though rare) that the ship may have to dock elsewhere so do check with the cruise line.

Beware the underground (subway) station "Kowloon Station" and "Kowloon Tong" stations are different. Be sure the taxi driver gets it. But most Hong Kong taxi drivers speak some English. The special train from Kowloon station to Chek Lap Kok International station is air-conditioned and very comfortable.
