Can You Get A Rental Car at FLL Cruise Terminal?

We plan to spend a few extra days in Florida after our 2005 Xmas cruise on the CB. Is it possible to get a rental car at the cruise terminal or do I have to go to the airport to get a car?Thanks!

There are shuttles that will take you to the car rental agencies, but there are none adjacant to the pier. Shouldn't be a problem though.

In January we used Alamo and at the time it was an off airport site. We were able to get a shuttle to and from the port. In May we did a land vacation and almost all of the major car rental agencies had been moved onsite to the airport. I'm not sure what policy is now in place as far as transportation to the port from the airport.

Hopefully someone else has had a recent experience and can be more helpful...

The worst case is you take a $5 taxi to the car rental place while the rest of the family finds the baggage in the Giant Hall of Black Bags and you all meet up at an assigned location on the curb.

Just keep in mind, some of the rental agencies do not have shuttle service from the port to the airport rental site (Hertz, for example), but for a few bucks you can take a cab there to get your rental at the airport. Ask when you reserve your car. Btw, if you are thinking of renting from Hertz, they DO have a shuttle from the port to their local edition site (HLE), which we did in August. I would not recommend it, though, as we had to wait an hour and a half for our SUV which we had reserved ahead of time.

There are shuttles from auto rental agencies to their sites. If the sites are on airport property, it's only a 15 minute ride. Airport and Port Everglades are close to each other.
