First off I have been on 15 cruises. I work in retail and usually try to find the best in every ship. I know how critical people can be.

I am going to fill out the carnival survey so that they make improvements.

There where a few things that just didn't sit well with me this cruise.

*the ship was very very warm

*it took a very long time to get drinks at the bars. (Over ten minutes) not enough staff

*we where seated in the dining room at a table for ten. Only four of us showed up. The last night it was just myself and my wife. (Why would they not move us?)

*it was by far the loudest room ever 6305

The good news was it was a very friendly staff

Getting on and off was a breeze

Entertainment was great

Ship was well maintained

Guys burger joint and the blue iguana was awesome

Just a few observations

Thanks for posting this. Looks like I will bring my mini fan after all. Also wondering about temp in the dining rooms, etc.

Since there is not a Serenity Deck, did you have any problems finding quiet spots on deck?

Sharon, I am on the same sailing. :)

Thanks for the honest info, glad to hear the positives.

Nothing is ever 100% positive or negative.

Also interested to see where there ship was warm and how the lack of a Serenity Deck effected the Lido crowds?

Was it more crowded at the aft adult pool?

Can't wait! Looking forward to seeing some cruise friends, and making new ones :). See you on board!

The Conquest was our 7th cruise and I felt it a bit lackluster compared to our previous cruises. We had a great time anyway due to the company we were with, but as far as the ship and all that makes up our cruise, it was our least favorite so far.

I'm glad you had a good time.

What other ships have you been on - so we have a perspective as to why the Conquest didn't live up to those expectations?

Thanks.

Also just off today. Conquest was our third cruise as we have previously been on the Dream and Paradise. It was my favorite cruise so far.

We don't drink so I can't comment on bar service and I agree in certain areas it was rather room but our room was comfortable mid-ship on Deck 2.

We had ATD and enjoyed our service each night although the first night seemed to take forever and we made it to the show late.

No new menus yet and the menu for each night was wrong on the TV each morning and it wasn't the menu for the day before either. It was strange.

Service was great, every staff member we encountered was very friendly. Loved Guys and the Blue Iguana burritos (had a breakfast one every morning ... today included).

I don't get into the "who is our CD" very much and after reading on here I was a bit nervous about Wee Jimmy but we loved him (and he loved us). The day we missed HMC I was bummed but he did a great job at keeping us entertained. The 80s trivia that day was a blast.

DD spent some time in O2 and it wasn't her favorite club of the three but a lot of that had to do with the other kids on the ship and there weren't many in that age range.

The customs line was a bit long this morning especially considering we had FTTF and got off with zone 1 but once thru we found a cab and were at the airport in no time. It was like $15 for the cab from the port to FLL.

I was on the same sailing; debarked this morning too.

There where a few things that just didn't sit well with me this cruise.

*the ship was very very warm

Our cabin (1455) seemed a bit warm, but it wasn't unbearable. At least it was air-conditioned, unlike our cabin on Liberty in 2012.

*it took a very long time to get drinks at the bars. (Over ten minutes) not enough staff

This tended to vary a lot. The aft pool bar was often my choice to get sodas (under Bottomless Bubbles) and a few drinks, and it was seldom crowded. The Blue Iguana and Red Frog bars were often crowded, though.

*we where seated in the dining room at a table for ten. Only four of us showed up. The last night it was just myself and my wife. (Why would they not move us?)

What did they say when you asked to be moved?

As for our MDR service (YTD), it was great the first day, dreadful the second...and a 50-minute wait for a table. Our neighbors were served raw chicken (it was bloody) after a 30-minute wait.

When they were missing a wine glass, the waiter grabbed one from a table that had just been vacated by other guests....presumably it was unused, but who knows? Any health inspector would assign critical failures for either one of those errors.

We opted to eat at the Lido or the Deli for the rest of the cruise, not wanting to invest two hours for poor service and maybe salmonella.

The good news was it was a very friendly staff

Getting on and off was a breeze

Entertainment was great

Ship was well maintained

Guys burger joint and the blue iguana was awesome

Agreed on all of the above. Debark wasn't a picnic, but it was better than Freedom last October and Liberty OTS last January.

Thanks, all for the great and honest information.

rhiansmom: why did you miss HMC? Was there bad weather, or was it damage from Juaquin? I had heard they got thru the storm pretty well. We were there on the Sunshine on Sept 29th, the day it was developing into a tropical storm and the day before it became a Cat. 2 Hurricane. It was a georgeous day with a few black clouds, but no wind or rain.

I haven't researched much, but there doesn't seem to be a lot "Conquest" info on the first few pages of this board.

Please keep the information coming! :)

I'm not going to respond to everything because then I'll be accused of being a Cheerleader. For those sailing soon, I do hope you'll go to the top of the page and click on the ship name. That will give you all the threads about her.

Do bear in mind that one person's impressions of one sailing out of thousands of people doesn't mean a ship is either perfect or horrible. It's just one person's impressions.

I was on her the first week of June. Review thread can be found easily if you click the link above. Yes, there were spots in the common areas that were very warm, but others were freezing cold.

You are not going to be moved around every night in the MDR based on the number of people who show up on any given night. They just can't do that - logistic nightmare for the Maitre D! If you want a full table every night, choose Anytime Dining next time and ask to be seated with others.

I like the ship. Was my recent sailing on her perfect? No. For the first time ever, encountered a very rude staff member at the service desk. Great casino drink service (it was a Premier sailing so they were very, very busy but they worked their butts off). Service in the MDR was hit-and-miss.

I wouldn't hesitate to sail Conquest again. But I sail for the ports. All the nice things on the ship are just bonuses and if they aren't perfect (which they never are and I never expect them to be), I still enjoy myself.

Thanks for taking the time to post. We are going on the Conquest for the first time in December. We are really looking forward to it because we have really loved sailing on her 'sister' ships.....Liberty and Freedom. I have been reading about other complaints that it was warm.....I think I will bring a fan. We usually like the older, smaller ships. I appreciate the reviews......it helps us know if there are some things we can avoid. We chose a room in the back of the ship on deck 2 (I think we are below the dining room so it shouldn't be noisy when we want to sleep) and we don't drink so slow bar service won't be an issue. And we always use Any-Time-Dining so table mates also won't be an issue. So, the warm temp is my only question, and maybe in Dec, THAT won't be a problem either. LOL Anyway, thanks again for posting.......good information! :)

I was in the conquest the same dates as the OP. We debarked Saturday 10/17. My husband and I were in 7201. This was out 3rd cruise with carnival and we had a blast. The temperature in our room was just fine. Things such as temperature are different person to person. We always keep our room warm (I'm easily cold). Food on lido and in restaurant was great and the staff was awesome. We had Your Time Dining and only had to wait for a table on formal night and that was maybe 15 minutes.

Which dining room was assigned for YTD?

According to the Captain addressing us the day before our visit to HMC was to take lace, he said "adverse Tendering conditiions." Later on the bridge during the BtF Tour, he said it was swells (waves).

Thanks to all who are posting their experiences.

Renoir Deck 3.

Wow. I didn't realize that Conquest doesn't have Serenity. Bummer.

No Mongolian Wok, either. Somehow, we survived. :)

After a bunch of days of 6 people not showing up at a table kind of obvious they are not coming to the DR, and see no reason the MD cannot make changes.

I agree with NCTRIBEFAN, it would be a logistical nightmare.

And, while I feel for the people that wanted to sit with others, you also need to look at it from both sides.

I once went on a 5 night cruise and only went to the MDR one night - night four. If someone had given my spot away - where would I eat? It's my cruise, I paid for it and I'll eat in the MDR when I want. Don't give my spot away or make me stand around for 10-15 minutes because you don't know what to do with me because I only come one time. Some people stroll in when they want, or don't come at all. Everyone with assigned dining is assigned a place. It's theirs whether they use it or not.

Now, maybe those people should have signed up for YTD; but that's still their choice. Or maybe it wasn't since YTD seems to be popular.

rhiansmom: what time where you able to get to the airport with FTTF?

Thanks in advance. We are on the Jan. 3rd sailing and have FTTF. Flight after cruise is 11:30.

We just got off Saturday as well. We are Platinum, no FTTF. We were at FLL at 10:30 and did not even try. We went to breakfast and then got off the ship when they were calling the regular numbers.

I had heard nightmares about delays but found none of that. I booked a 2:30 flight because of my concerns.

It deparkation goes like ours did an 11:30 flight should be no issue if you are working to get off early.

Agreed. While not a picnic, our debark this time went a lot smoother and faster than my two previous experiences at Port Everglades.

Interesting fact I learned from our porter: at PortMiami, there is a separate faster line through Customs to handle porters (and the people who engage their services)...but this was taken away at Port Everglades. I tipped our porter commensurately. :)
