Transportation from Newark to NYC Pier

We are taking the red eye into Newark and will need to get to the NYC Pier. Does anyone know if it's pretty easy to find a cab (van) that will fit 4 adults and 1 child? Any idea how much that costs? Also, we get in pretty early around 6:00 am on a Sunday. Is there anything to do at the pier until our shp starts boarding? (We have a 3 year old. :o ) Any info, much appreciated.

Supershuttle is definitely one option. However, Supershuttle is not "exclusive". The driver may cruise around EWR a loooooong time, picking up other passengers.

There are lots of taxis. My preference is the town car/limo services which can be booked online. A google search will turn up lots of options. Is about $100.00, including tolls and tips. When you figure Super Shuttle is about $20.00pp, it is only slightly more expensive to take the limo service. And with a three yo who has been up all night, cruising around the airport at 6:00AM may not be fun for any of you. The limo would give the little one something to look forward to.

I would recommend staying at the airport until about 10:00AM and then go into NYC. There is lots to do in the city and lots of places to eat, BUT. What are you going to do with the luggage? You may NOT be able to drop it off at the ship early. The NYC longshoreman have one of the most stringent contracts in the country and lots of times they just won't play ball doing something out of the ordinary (like dropping off luggage early). I would definitely call the cruiseline and MAKE SURE what the earliest time you can get rid of luggage. Then make your plans accordingly.

Here is a link for transport from the airport. Lots of info on transport, including AirTrain and the numerous busses that run from EWR.
