Can you use the promotional gift cards to cover gratuitues on your on-board account or only things you purchase (like drinks)? For a family of 5 on a 7-night cruise, gratuities are $420 for the cruise so this adds up and is usually the bulk of my on-board spending!! It would definitely be worthwhile for me to buy some of these if it is offered and I can use the promotional gift cards for the gratuity service charge.

You can use them for anything that you charge to your room. No restrictions - just like cash.

Thanks so much! I am going to get the carnival credit card on the offchance that they will offer it again this Black Friday. Then I will be in the position to buy enough to pay off my cruise AND get all of my onboard gratuities covered for my cruise next July!!!

Click through the Carnival website to apply. You get 10,000 points vs 5,000 on the Barclay's site.

How do you purchase the cards? When do they start selling them for black friday?

I believe it was carnivalgiftcards.com and the main Carnival site homepage had a link to the webpage. I believe it started at midnight on black friday and went for the entire weekend. I know I purchased them on Saturday and my cruise was the next day and had them in my email the next day

Really? I have found a single thing worth using my Verizon reward points for.

Regardless if you have something to use the points on or not the deal is the same price and you don't have to use points in case you want do find something else you like.

The rewards points are useful if you need a gift card immediately when they have them. Black Friday cards are good if you need any and are available because they don't cost anything extra

Does anyone know how long it takes to get approved for the credit card? We only use 1 credit card to accumulate as many points as possible on it. We have excellent credit so that wouldn't be a problem. I would only want to get the new card for the promotion so I wouldn't want to apply for it unless I know that the sale was going to happen. So if the sale was starting Thanksgiving night I wouldn't apply till then. Would we get approved quick enough to get the promotion? Thanks for any help!

Yes. They give you an instant approval and I had my card in like 3 days. Make sure you apply from the carnival.com website so you get 10,000 points instead of 5,000 through the Barclays site.

If this promotion does happen this year, will it be possible to pay for gratuities, beverage package and or excursions prior to the cruise?

I would love to get the deal to purchase the cruise in full and have the gift cards for all the extras.

We are planning our 20 year anniversary cruise in Feb 2017 and this will be 2-3 months past the expiration date. I see the gift cards state must be used onboard? But, I don't want to take the chance and wait til the Black Friday 2016 to purchase.

They do not need to be used strictly onboard. I used mine last year for deposit/final payment over the phone with my PVP. Only the promotional or "free" cards expire in one year so use those first. The regular gift cards are good indefinitely.

I don't think you can pay for Cheers/BB ahead of time with Gift Cards but you can apply them to your S&S account onboard and purchase it then. But gratuities and excursions, yes.

You are correct. Cheers/BB cannot be pre paid with Carnival gift cards due to the fact that the Cheers/BB are purchased through Bon Voyage and they do not accept Carnival Gift Cards. You could use a gift card to pay for them once you board the ship though. Edited by ready2cruzagain
help please- is the carnival mastercard from Barclay's different from the carnival mastercard offered thru carnival? or will my carnival Barclay mastercard work for the black Friday promo ( if they have it) TIA
They are one in the same. The credit card is Carnival branded, however the bank that administers it is Barclays.

Hmmm...the Carnival Mastercard from Barclays is the same as the Carnival Barclay Mastercard. It will work if they have the sale.:)
