teacher06 Posted October 25, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 25, 2015 We will be taking the train from Amsterdam to Rotterdam about 10AM to catch our Cruise 1/7/16. Any recommendations for reasonably priced Hotels in Rotterdam near the Rotterdam Central Station or near the ship terminal in Rotterdam. One night only 1/6/16. teacher06 Posted October 25, 2015 Author #2 Share Posted October 25, 2015 Would appreciate any recommendations for reasonably priced hotels in Rotterdam for 1/6/16. We will take the train from Amsterdam to Rotterdam Central Station. Should we stay in a hotel near Central Station Rotterdam or in a hotel near the cruise terminal? sail7seas Posted October 25, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 25, 2015 We stayed in the Hilton. Convenient location and was middle of the road, comfortable enough. Not high luxury but for a few nights was at least adequate.
pv girl Posted October 25, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 25, 2015 Walking distance from station are 2 - Manhattan and Holiday Inn Express. I stayed at HI Express just last July. Good clean modern rooms, nice roomy bathrooms, good included breakfast, very nice staff. Safe area, walking distance to some shopping streets with cafes. Took taxi to port for about 12Euro. Another place is Tulip Inn on the river at the bridge over to the port. Can see the ship arrive in the morning. Older hotel with small rooms but nice bar/restaurant with river view and good breakfast. Walked to local area for nice dinner at a local place one night and just had soup at the hotel the second night. Right at a trolley stop, so you can get trolley from station and use trolley to go around the city. Also dock for river excursion boats is right at the door. We took a tour of port/harbor one day and was interesting. You could walk across the bridge to the ship but with luggage, not fun, take a taxi for 10Euro. Some here will recommend to stay at the New York, the old HAL headquarters. Maybe historic etc. but pricey and since it is on the port side of the river, there are no local shops and cafes close. To see the city, you would have to taxi or metro back across the bridge. Better to stay somewhere in the main part of the city.
Bill S Posted October 25, 2015 #5 Share Posted October 25, 2015 What is reasonable means different things to different people, so it is hard to offer a suggestion based on that criterion. However, if convenience is a high priority, I can suggest the Hotel New York, a block from the Cruise Terminal. It used to be HAL's headquarters years ago and was converted into a hotel. We stayed there in May and the rooms are spacious and the interior décor is heavily ship oriented and very unique. The rooms are have air conditioning, as well. Their breakfast buffet is excellent but pricey, but you can roll that in with your reservation. The staff are excellent and entire facility is very unique and special. Check out their website. We would definitely stay there again. Hope this helps!
ger_77 Posted October 25, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 25, 2015 We stayed at the Moevenpick and were very happy with it. The location is across the bridge from the port and within walking distance to many restaurants and bars. Smooth Sailing ! :) :) :)
Ine Posted October 25, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 25, 2015 Also check the ss Rotterdam, docked not too far from the cruise terminal. http://ssrotterdam.com/?_ga=1.115195714.459411936.1445065014#.ViyP8Cvpy9I
sppunk Posted October 25, 2015 #8 Share Posted October 25, 2015 Hotel New York and nhow Rotterdam are two minute walks to the port. nhow is next to the Euromas bridge - a great location. It's very modern/hip. So caveat if you don't like glass bathrooms and so forth. We love it.
SilvertoGold Posted October 25, 2015 #9 Share Posted October 25, 2015 (edited) Love the Hotel New York: you can watch your ship come in, close up and personal!! Agree with Bill S's excellent description. Edited October 25, 2015 by SilvertoGold
tonirog Posted October 25, 2015 #10 Share Posted October 25, 2015 We stayed at the Nhow Hotel next to the cruise terminal in May of this year. Great location. Took subway from Central Station to Wilhelminakade(?) stop, I think. Stop is 1 block from the hotel. Great view of Erasmus Bridge. Nice breakfast. Signed up for their rewards program and got a further discount. FYI...if your credit card is not "pin and chip" you will not be able to use it at the train station kiosk to obtain tickets and must go to ticket window. Local subway station machines only take Euro coins. This created a problem for travelers early in the morning before ticket window opened. Have a great trip. HarR Posted February 17, 2016 #13 Share Posted February 17, 2016 Does anyone have comments about the Manhattan Hotel? One of the most luxurious hotels in town. Straight across central train station.
Broadway99354 Posted February 17, 2016 #14 Share Posted February 17, 2016 Three and half years ago I stayed at the Hotel New York. It is a long walk back to the central part of town. However, opening the curtains and seeing the Rotterdam out of your window is a view I will never forget.
