I would like to gift small bottles of wine such as the kind that come in a four pack. I know I can bring two bottles in my carry on. Would two four packs be allowed?

This is from HAL's Know Before You Go document:

"ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES BROUGHT ON BOARD

Each guest 21^ years and older may bring one bottle of wine

or champagne (no larger than 750ml) onboard in carry-on

luggage at the beginning of the voyage. This bottle will not

be subject to a corkage fee if consumed in the stateroom.

Additional wine or champagne bottles (no larger than 750ml)

in carry-on luggage are welcome, but will incur a US$18.00

(subject to change) corkage fee each, irrespective of where

they are intended to be consumed. Guests are not allowed to

bring beer, boxed wine, or other liquors and spirits onboard.

Holland America Line reserves the right to remove all

alcoholic beverages from any guest luggage that violates this

policy. Any alcoholic beverage found will be removed and

returned on the last evening of the voyage. Guests will not

receive any monetary compensation for alcoholic beverages

that were removed from luggage."

You could (probably) bring two the the small bottles, since the policy talks about the bottle being no larger than 750ml.

The policy as written:

Each guest 21 years^ and older may bring one bottle of wine or champagne (no larger than 750ml) onboard in carry-on luggage at the beginning of the voyage.

There is no allowance for bringing several small bottles with the same total volume, or less, just as there is no provision for a couple to bring in one bottle holding 1500ml. I could be wrong, but in most cases I believe that security would go by the specific wording of the policy and only allow 1 small bottle each.

Edit: I see that Windsailer and I are of like minds.

Please excuse my ignorance, but could someone kindly explain what a "fish extender gift" is? I have not heard that term before. Thank you!

It's a Disney thing: http://noguiltlife.com/fish-extender-disney-cruise-line-tips/

I see that OP has now reposted over on Disney having posted here in error.

If you have not already done so, I suggest you direct this question to HAL Ship Services and request an e-mail response. In turn, if you get a favorable answer from HAL Ship Services, be sure to take a copy of the HAL e-mail response with you on the cruise so that you will be able to prove to Security that HAL Headquarters has okayed the specific combination of container sizes and/or total volume you are bringing on board.

EDIT: Just saw Post # 5 (which came in while I was typing the above). Ergo, never mind!!!

Thank YOU for asking, as I too had no idea before Googling it. We have both profited from the OP's mispost! :)

BUT it also says ONE bottle! I would contact ships services and ask. Best to do this by email so you have a written copy if they will allow more than 1 bottle in the event security questions you.

I wondered the same thing, but was afraid to post and ask for fear of being blasted for my low brow ignorance and blue collar upbringing. Don't have kids so don't follow Disney.

They were pretty specific about the 750ml bottle being the only allowed size, at least at Port Everglades last year. We had two cruises pretty close together on the Nieuw Amsterdam. We have some dessert wine I was thinking of taking. It's in half bottles, so when we checked in for the first cruise, I asked about 375ml bottles and was told that wine has to be 750ml. That's what the policy says, so we didn’t risk trying to take the smaller bottles on the second cruise.

How strange, as the policy says "no larger than 750ml", not that it must BE 750ml.

I noticed that when I did a cut and paste of the policy further up this thread. I think it's a change? I know the policy originally said 750 ml so it was clear boxes of wine weren't allowed.
