carlsbadbruin Posted October 25, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 25, 2015 (edited) Hi, I'm in the early stages of planning a cruise to Alaska for our family in June, 2016. We are in our mid 40's and have two teen boys (16 and 18). The itineraries (Glacier Bay) and prices for both ships are very similar. We have previously done 4 cruises on Disney (loved them!) and one on Norwegian (Epic in Europe, didn't spend much time on the ship). We generally favor buffets over the dining room, and we're not fans of dressing up after wearing suits all week. Evening entertainment/family-friendly show quality is a priority, as is the buffet food and access to family activities (ping pong, games, movies, etc.). We're planning a balcony room for the adults and an inside for the kids across the hall. Which would you choose for our family? Thank you for your help! Budget Queen Posted October 25, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 25, 2015 (edited) Are the port times the same? If not, What are you doing in the ports, would one ship be better than the other for scheduling? Both ships are going to be very similar with buffet and show options. I think you will find Alaska sailing, having more to do with outside the ship perhaps. Princess will have more "Alaska" programs, due to an on board naturalist. carlsbadbruin Posted November 12, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted November 12, 2015 The port times look very similar. Crown Princess has more time in Juneau and Norwegian an extra hour in Victoria.
quercus alba Posted November 12, 2015 #4 Share Posted November 12, 2015 We had a great time on Pearl. Very family-friendly. Review below...
