BIGREDIOWAN Posted October 26, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 26, 2015 Do u know what upgrades she is getting There are some other threads around that talk about her upgrades if you search around. Click the Carnival Splendor hyperlink at the top of the page to find them. I'm going on her on January 31st for one of her final sailings before she goes in for upgrades. It was a cheap cruise though so I couldn't pass it up. :)

Hope they take all of the donuts off of the elevator doors and elsewhere. You will see what I mean. The Splendor is the first ship that I never figured out up until the last day. Complicated deck plans. As you can see, I have been on several Carnival ships. Don't know that I will do the Splendor again.

watermelonqueen99 Posted October 31, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 31, 2015 (edited) How long will she be in dry dock? We are booked on her for the April 10th sailing. Edited October 31, 2015 by watermelonqueen99
seannyice81 Posted October 31, 2015 #8 Share Posted October 31, 2015 With the announcement that the ship will go to China, maybe we'll see them switch things up a bit for that market.

(By contrast, I hate the Pride - dark and dreary.)
Waterwitch Posted November 7, 2015 #10 Share Posted November 7, 2015 I love the Splendor's decor! It is whimsical and fun. (By contrast, I hate the Pride - dark and dreary.) I too loved the Splendor interior! The pink is adulterated, not too bright, and looks great next to the black. I am an interior designer, and I find that many times men in particular have been conditioned to think that pink is awful. It has been my favorite Carnival ship! I've been on 8. The Cloud 9 Spa is fantastic!!! Love, love, love the Splendor... especially the Tandoor kitchen.

DONDON55 Posted November 8, 2015 #13 Share Posted November 8, 2015 (edited) I am back on Splendor tomorrow, yes it is pink  Nice ship though :D Splendor has a fabulous bar staff.........we made some great friends in July......say hello to Jervie (serves the shots at dinner and serves drinks at Lido pool during the day) Jean ( he's out at the deck 9 aft pool during the day and the Black Pearl at night ) Nelly (she's in the Black Pearl for dinner and the atrium lounge after ) Yada (she's at the atrium lounge ) we had so much fun with them.....tell them the Richardson's say hello. Oh and don't forget Leila, she was our favorite bartender at the deck 9 aft pool bar, tell her Sam and the twins say hello.......... In the Black Pearl dining room Leyton and his team were by far the best team on the ship, tell them hello from us. Enjoy ! paulypride Posted November 8, 2015 #14 Share Posted November 8, 2015 We have sailed twice on her. The pink in no way was jarring or disrupted my cruising pleasure. Is it over the top, yes...but so are most Carnival ships in some regard. Going to miss her when she goes to China in 2017!

LMF422 Posted November 9, 2015 #16 Share Posted November 9, 2015 We were on the Splendor to Bermuda from Norfolk, Virginia - 10/23-10/30/15. This was our second Carnival cruise with the first being on the Jubilee in 1987. We are also Elite with Princess Cruises. This cruise was chosen by our family due to the close proximity of the embarkation point to everyone's homes. It was also the first cruise for our daughter-in-law (Who is disabled) and 9 year old granddaughter. First......I was very unimpressed by the ship's decor. It was like walking into an old casino in Las Vegas. It is all done in Pepto Bismol pink and black. The ship is also very claustrophobic and dark. Second.......The food was very mediocre. We were in the upper Black Pearl Dining Room which in itself is very dark. No windows and you cannot see any of the entertainment that they are doing downstairs in the lower dining room. Third...... Security Briefing (Muster) was strange. They have you STAND at your muster station while a crew member shows you how to put on your life jacket. That took only 2-3 minutes yet we stood for well over an hour. This is poorly planned. How do they know that everyone actually attends? Fourth......Movies shown in both the ship's cabins and on their Dive-In Movie Screen, unlike other cruise lines, were old movies. Nothing recent. That was very disappointing. Fifth......We enjoy trivia. Why not host the games in a large public room instead of the small ship's atrium? There were never any seats available, yet the El Morrocco Lounge was large an totally unused. Sixth......Embarkation was very slow. We were told to wait in one of several public areas after leaving our cabin at 8:30am. Our group was not called to leave the ship until almost 11am. No wonder the ship isn't ready for the next cruises group to board and unjoy their cabins until 1:30pm Again, except for enjoying Bermuda with our extended family, it was a total bust. No more Carnival!
