Rare CruiseIreland Posted October 28, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 28, 2015 It all depends on how much you drink. We broke even by Wednesday. With no sea days, you can break even sooner.:)
CairnsDragon Posted October 28, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted October 28, 2015 Yes i suppose you are right, my hubby would drink that much and it allows for coffees aswell it might be the way to go, thanks.
bobstheboy Posted October 29, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 29, 2015 I have a cruise booked for May 16. The web site states it costs £22 pppd but the online 2016 virtual broucher states it is £20 pppd. Anyone tried to get the £20 deal ?

Jollyholidays Posted October 29, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 29, 2015 Do you think the drink packages are good value when you don't have any sea days? By the time you have coffees, Ice cream, bottles of water, vitamin drinks, herbal drinks in the spa plus alcohol on top. Very good value. we totted up approx €75. per day between two of us. Bra_BE2014 Posted October 29, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 29, 2015 Do you think the drink packages are good value when you don't have any sea days? My mom and I had The alegrissimo and unfortunatly, we lost money. The drinks were much cheaper then I expected and we are early birds, meaning, we wake up very early and go to bed around midnight, maximum. So even though the package was an excellent deal on paper, it wasn't good for us.

Donsyb Posted October 30, 2015 #9 Share Posted October 30, 2015 We've decided against the package for two reasons: We only have one sea day, and for 3 days (almost) we are docked in Havana, so will do most of our drinking off ship. We like nice wines, and feedback on here was that the included wine on the basic package isn't great, we don't drink much coffee or other soft drinks, so just didn't think we would get our moneys worth. It probably depends on what you like to drink and how much of it you'll drink while on board.
Rare CruiseIreland Posted November 1, 2015 #10 Share Posted November 1, 2015 I was thinking exactly the same thing. My mistake, sorry. All of our cruises only had one sea day. It's still great value as some sailaways are quite early. On port days, we would only miss wine/beers at lunch but get back for cocktails on the rear pool deck before sailaway. In OP's case, it may be worth paying as you go. Wine included is not great and we liked to buy nice coffees.

In saying that though, having the Package on our recent 7 nighter on the Preziosa was well worth it. You can't beat a Rusty Nail or large Baileys last thing at night in the Piano Bar. kerryincork Posted November 1, 2015 #12 Share Posted November 1, 2015 They also have deals where you buy 10 cocktails and get 2 free, same for eine, beer, & coffee. We had the drinks package when we went & it was hard going at times to break even, I had only been on US before where drinks are really over priced. But if I had known about all the other types of deals before I went I wouldn't have gotten the daily drinks. I would have got the cocktail and coffee packages separately as it would have worked out cheaper and I wouldn't have felt underpressure to drink do much 😉

kerryincork Posted November 2, 2015 #14 Share Posted November 2, 2015 Yes on the day we embarked they had tables set up with staff. In the bars they had noticed about the different drinks packages available. It appeared to me that you could buy these at any time. But I would check these out as soon as you get on board. One thing though I think if you buy the drinks package online you are not charged a service charge. Again just check this out.

southwestie Posted November 5, 2015 #18 Share Posted November 5, 2015 Dobt forget if you buy before you pay the price, if you buy on the ship they add 15% on to every drink
kevg1889 Posted November 5, 2015 #19 Share Posted November 5, 2015 We kept nearly all our receipts from our cruise on the Fantasia and it added up to around 800 Euros for the two of us for our outlay of £308 (not all alcohol by the way!!) It was great to be able to have a drink or an ice cream or a coffee whenever you wanted without worrying about it!!
CairnsDragon Posted November 6, 2015 Author #20 Share Posted November 6, 2015 So in the basic package do they have Jim Beam and southern comfort?

SwadFox Posted November 10, 2015 #22 Share Posted November 10, 2015 I'm very interested also about whether to have the Drinks Package (Basic or Premium), but it's very difficult to come to any informed decision regards this without the relevant information namely 1) What is EXACTLY included in each package ( and not just the generic twaddle on the website) AND 2) How much are the drinks on board if you don't have a package. If anyone has any info regards these I would be very grateful. The price at £22 & £37 respectively sounds very steep to me :(
Rare CruiseIreland Posted November 10, 2015 #23 Share Posted November 10, 2015 (edited) So in the basic package do they have Jim Beam and southern comfort? Definitely Jim Beam and l think Southern Comfort. I had great difficulty getting Jim Beam 'cos the waiter or barman heard 'J&B'. @swadfox..there are posts on this board that have links to the Allegrissimo list but l can't do that. Draught beer, lots of spirits, including Absolut, Jameson & Courvosier. Jack Daniels, Grey Goose and Hennessey are on Premium. Most cocktails are included. Soft drinks and specialist coffees included. If you want a Bailey's coffee, you order both separately and mix it yourself. Drinks run at about 3-5 Euro for draught beer, €5 for bottled. Spirits about € 5 plus €2.50 for a mixer. Wines about €20 plus per bottle, €8+ per glass. Gratuities will be added at 15%. Others know about the ice cream or gelato. It's great value if you like a good coffee, drink with lunch and dinner plus a cocktail or beer in the evening sunshine! NB take a note of what the red asterisk means , although I now understand they use it to indicate what is included not what is excluded. Remember that they add 15% service charge to the quoted prices if not part of a package. There has probably been a price rise since that bar list http://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2230053&page=2 Pete Edited November 10, 2015 by Skier52
