garebarepups Posted November 4, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 4, 2015 We have a check in time of 10am/10:30am. Ive been researching post on getting to the terminal parking. I heard 9A North is super busy. Is the best way from the Lincoln tunnel to find 10th street and take it down turning left on 55th street. Has anyone taking this route, if so how was traffic. And or another route, that worked for you. Our hotel is closer to the Lincoln tunnel so it would not make sense to use the Wash. Bridge.
Rare mking8288 Posted November 4, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 4, 2015 (edited) See this post under East Coast - detailed parking (and driving to terminal tips) - http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2057865 If you are driving thru the Lincoln Tunnel around 9:30 to 10 am on a typical Sunday morning, traffic shouldn't be that bad, even from 12th Avenue (Rt 9A - a/k/a old West Side Hwy) or, take the 10th Avenue northbound after exiting LT, kept left to head uptown for 42nd. Street's T interection, turn left onto W. 42nd. Street, right on 10th Ave to go north, or continue to 12th Ave & turn right (but, keep to your left as you will turn to get into the pier/terminal parking on the rooftop at W. 55th) Google Maps/Nav or iPhone Map with Waze real-time traffic has been very accurate in suggesting the best & fastes routing while you are on the move - get your rider/co "pilot" to help navigate the fastest approach. Traffic light timing is programmed longer on the Avenue - as, we've sat on W. 55th Street for 10 minutes waiting for the lights to change (use the "middle" lane as the right lane at the end of 11th. Avenue is right turn only for the Rt. 9A North) in the car service - whew, no taxi meters. :D Any other questions, East Coast subforum probably has been asked & answered, happy cruising  Edited November 4, 2015 by mking8288
executive2 Posted November 4, 2015 #3 Share Posted November 4, 2015 Best way to get into NYC port is west side highway south into terminal parking
landlady1952 Posted November 4, 2015 #4 Share Posted November 4, 2015 It will be Sunday morning and very little traffic. We have done both ways coming from NJ. But lately we do GW Bridge and come down highway
pieshops Posted November 4, 2015 #5 Share Posted November 4, 2015 Avoid the west side highway heading north. Head north on one of the avenues, pass the port and then head back south on the west side highway.
garebarepups Posted November 5, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted November 5, 2015 Ok thanks. Ok best bet is 10th Ave then left on 55th or 57th. I think we will just stick with that.

If you've got a smart phone, the Waze app is really good. Have navigated around NYC and Boston, and it will update traffic nearly block by block and route you the quickest way. garebarepups Posted November 9, 2015 Author #10 Share Posted November 9, 2015 So parking at the pier ,What would the total amount be for parking. Do they make you pay for the day you come back, and is it taxed. Just wondering what to look forward to.
TYSONBOXER Posted November 9, 2015 #11 Share Posted November 9, 2015 If your going on a 7 day cruise, they charge you for 7 days. It's $40 a day, so you will pay $280. No tax. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
